Finished! I added a Mosin-Nagant rifle, two ammo containers, a couple grenades stuck under his belt, a pocket cover and some insignia on the uniform. The photos make the figure look like it is leaning a lot, but it isn't, it's all camera angles. Sorry about that. Hope you like it! As always, your comments and critique will be welcome!

Next stop - Yorkshire! Roger works his abracadabra!

    All the best,
    Dan

Dan, Nice job. Painting different shades of red for the clothing and the boots should be interesting.~Gary

    Hi Dan,

very interesting topic and painting will be a pleasant challenge!

Just one comment: in my opinion the strap of the rifle should be tight, same stands for the belt at (rather between) the grenades, eventhough it's not visible now under the pouch.

    Great work!

I second Denes comment on the rifle sling the way it is now it looks as if the rifle has no weight. It kind of looks odd . The rifle is at kind of an odd angle as well. I like the figure over all but that kind of stands out to me.

Jeff and Denes - I think the grenades in the belt look tight enough to be believable, but I have to agree about the rifle sling. I worked on trying to make the rifle sling look tighter, but couldn't quite pull it off unfortunately. I still have much to learn about sculpting. Thanks for the comments, guys!

Jeff and Denes - I think I made the wrong call on the rifle sling. I had the figure boxed and ready for shipping, but then I stopped to think about it. Hey - what's the rush? So - I'll fix it next weekend, etc., etc. and re-post photos and see what you think. This is a mantra I need to personally learn - "Give yourself the time to do it right or don't do it!"

    Thanks for your comments again.

Patrick - For Omar Sharif as Dr. Zhivago, I believe I would refer you to Alex or Kamil, who both can do remarkable likenesses. Alex's Steve McQueen just was unbelievably good and his more recent Vic Morrow is just as good. Kamil has done a series of wonderful movie characters, but we haven't heard from him for a bit. Probably too busy. Hasn't someone already done Dr. Zhivago, however? I would have thought so.

    Hey Dan ,

Like I said, I like the figure. I am glad you are going to change the sling. You would not believe how may times I have thought something was finished and some one pointed something out and I ended up changeing it. It usually ends up looking better.

    Jeff -

The advice we all get from this forum - it's priceless, isn't it? A guy needs to have his head checked if he ignores it.

    Hi Dan,

I really didn't want to 'chase' you into delay :) from the other hand that's fun about modelling, some things have to be tackled (whatever it is), that's how one's improoving and that's what keeps things going. It is only a question of few more tries, isn't it?!
    Looking forward to the result!

    Fun sculpting! (y)

Denes - Not at all. You didn't chase or chide me into anything. I'm happy your comment made me reconsider and put the figure back on the bench.

    All the best,
    Dan

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
