A diorama depicting Dillon's Regt. in French Service during the War of the Spanish Succession.
During the night of 1st Feb 1702 Eugene Prince of Savoy lauched a surprise attack on the french garrison in the Italia cty of Cremona. The french were caught completely off guard andwere unable to prevent the Imperial Army entering the toewn, however the menof Dillon's Regt., an Irish Regt. in French service were not surprised and put up a spirited defence og the Po River Gate against up to 10,000 German and Austrian troops. Unable to dislodge the Irish Eugene was forced to retire from the city forfear of being trapped by French re-inforcements.
The model is made from Historex parts , plastic card, magic sculpt and painted in oils The cart and potato sacks are by MK-35. It attempts to show the initial stages of the defence which saw 1 officer and 35 men hold the gate.

Of the 600, 223 were killed, 123 wounded - the Imperial Army lost 2000.

You're getting better all the time, Jake!

Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh very soon. And also the cry of the seagulls on the Folkestone cliffs and the sweet  smell of Papa's fried haddock!

    Cheers,

    Elwood :)
