Maybe its just me but the paint job does not inspire me to buy these pieces! I would be interested in a look at these with only primer on them!

Usually i do not on hard critisim. But this time i gotta do it. What a awfull paintjob. It looks like someone did it for the first time.
As it looks now, i am not in the mood for buying it.

After looking at the Osceola Indian, and looking past the paint at the detail and sculpting, I for one will order this figure as it has good potential, with a Ken Thomas base, to be a striking figure when done. I always look past the paint, as most people wouldn't paint it as I would anyway, and see a figure for what it is, and how I want it to look when it first comes in the mail.

I can see where Guy is coming from and I agree with him to a certain extent. Still, if the buyer is to appreciate a piece for its sculpting & manufacturing technique, then a good paintjob would further reinforce these attributes.

I mean nothing off the sculpting. I am just one year on painting figures. So i cannot see behind the paint as Guy said.
If i hurt somebody, my excuses for it. I mean no harm to anybody.
It is just my thought off the paintjob, and when i see a figure, what is painted very well, and it is in my period of interests, than i almost buy it.
I think when Andrea or Pegaso let done a not so good boxart, they had sold not so many figure as at the moment.

So again my excuses.

Lets get something straight, I love Lost Battalions work and I have spent over $200 U.S. this year on their products. How much do you support them? Second, I get paid for my figures and while I like their products and would gladly paint any piece for them, free work, however, does not feed my kids!
My comment was meant as a general observation on basic marketing strategy! This case is not the only one, Jaguar, Nemrod and other companies have released kits with poor box art images of the piece. Yes the majority of experienced painters know the companies and tend to ignore the art for the contents (hence my comment on seeing a primed not painted version!). Still I would think any company marketing a product should strive to show it in the finest light possible, this may not be cost effective for a small business, but perhaps the price that needs to be paid when you consider your market!

I have emailed back and forth with Lost Battalion and we discussed some valid points were made in this thread and Darla has made arrangements to have the Osceola Chief's box art re-done. Darla will post later today and the post may interest alot of planet members.

This is a good case for the Poste Militaire method of packaging. Why more don't show the figure primed only is hard for me to understand. Primed is the best way to show off a kit's attributes. Paint can often be used to hide faults. And poor painting can be a HUGE detriment to sales.
