Hello again folks! I'm pleased to show you the completed Belgian cavalryman. Marc Megroot did a marvelous job - I'm sure you'll agree! Check-out that close-up of the face - great skin tone! You may be surprised that Marc painted the road sign in a brightish shiny enamel-appearing green. He told me he's seen several road signs like this still in use in Belgium and other places and that's a common color. To preclude another possible question - the names of the destinations on the sign have been intentionally painted over by the Belgian civil defense types.
Suggest you go back on my vBench to the original post of this figure to see the newspaper photo that I used to start it. Please pardon the shadows in some of the photos. They were taken outdoors this morning.
















Assuming I don't get run down by a beer truck, this figure and others will be at the Chicago MMSI next weekend.

Thanks Lieven! You're right, the WWI figures are few comparatively, but I keep addin' to 'em! Check out the rest of my vBench - - several more there. Next I'm going to try to complete Les Conseils de L'Anciens. And I'm eager to see your next one also!

Dan, Nice to see another one of your collaboration pieces done. Early war subjects are not seen often. Most of the time they are mid to late war figures of soldiers settled in to the grim task of fighting in the trenches.~Gary

Thanks Gary! Actually the periods I find most interesting in the Great War are the first and second years. The naive illusions of victory and a quick and glorious war of 1914 and the grim determination and gritty reality of dirt, waste, misery, pain and death of 1915. Most of the forthcoming cavalry figures will be from 1914. The exception being the US - 1916. That figure will be a 13th Cavalry Sergeant during the Pershing Expedition to Mexico.
