Hi guys :lol: ! My next sculpt,a WW 1 German stormtrooper about to fling a bundle charge into an enemy trench during a trench raid.The head,hands and feet are from Historex,and the helmet and grenades are from Scalelink Models. The figure is built from the usual wire-armature/plastic torso-pelvis method. The putty used is a mix of my usual stuff and Duro Kneadatite. So,what do you think of it ? I'll be working on the trench-works next. Cheers !

I would have to say that this is your best work. You have much better in the anatomy and the clothing. I am not sure about the pipe but that is just me.

I agree with Joe, you are definately getting better and you have started doing your clothing a lot better and not quite so baggy. Also looks like your folds are getting sharper as well, great job!

As for the pipe, I think it could go, but thats up to you, and I wonder about the camo cover on the helmet. Did they acctuallly use them in WWI, it looks like a WWII pattern.

Keep it up man, you are definately improving!

Hey Anders,thanks a bunch for all the positive comments on my latest effort :lol: ! As for the helmet cover,it's actually supposed to represent a hessian-type of cover(hence the texture).I got the idea from the colour plate in the Osprey book " WW 1 Trench Warfare(2)-1916 to 1918".If I'm not mistaken,it is plate B in the book. As for the pipe,I think I'll keep it in as it adds a certain "charm" to the figure ! Cheers.

I like the pipe as it gives the figure a sense of non-chalance about what he is doing as if it were "just another day at the front."

Here's a pic, I got off e-bay, showing Germans "vermon" picking. Note how many are smoking pipes.
Germans are habitual pipe smokers. I've seen dozens of images of groups of soldiers pipe smoking. I saw some WW1 film footage showing German artillerymen working their guns and the man loading was "puffing" away!
This habit (even when not lit) could act as a stress reliever, not so different as someone constantly chewing gun or gnawing on a toothpick.

Hi guys :lol: ! Well,I've completed making the base groundwork for my stormtrooper and primed the little fella. Used a little Blu-tack to hold the guy in place to assess the overall composition of the scene. What do you guys think of it ? All comments welcome.Thanks and cheers !
