here is a review of a figure i've been waiting soooo long : it took 18 months for it to arrive from Hong Kong to Canada with all the Covid restrictions ! but it was worth the wait !

so here it is : Shadow collector's edition in 1/20th scale from Dustgame. https://dustgame.com/

Dust is a board game, created after Paolo Parente's universe, a fictionnal world war 2 continuing in 1947 , some 1/35 plastic figures have been made back in time (and almost impossible to find nowadays) but the boardgame is still alive and well. they produce mainly 35mm figures for tabletop play but they have produced 3 collector's edition figures and i felt in love with Shadow

so what do we have in the box :

a multipart figure with many options, design of the parts is fantastic and you cannot make any mistake on what goes where as each plug is fitting only one place !
4 arms with weapons, 2 heads (one masked as a ninja the other unmasked), 2 sets of scabbards for the back.

interestingly, and probably to ease the casting, the right leg is in 2 parts

Casting is really perfect but a little bit on the soft side, but all the details are well defined, i have not seen any marks of molding anywhere which is cool as the parts are very delicate ! just a little bit of flash had to be take off on one katana handle.

i decided to assemble her immediately : posture is really feminine with the feeling of a model on the catwalk ! but she looks definitely dangerous and the attitude is the one of a very confident woman, she obviously is skilled in martial arts and weapon handling ;) she's 90mm tall which is correct for true 1/20 i think.

in conclusion, this will be a real pleasure to paint her and to create a little diorama for her, i can't wait to see where this project will drive me :)
if you generally paint WWII figures and want a little freedom for once : those figures are top notch !

highly recommended. cost with shipping was 65$ Can.

As you say, the detail does look soft in places (especially the masked "ninja" face, which looks little more than a blob) but the pose works really well and it should paint up nicely.

I had a couple of sets of those 1/35 figures, bought years ago at the IPMS nationals in Telford. The plan had been to combine them with a "1946" German tank (either an E-50 or an E-75) but I had been seduced by the really cool box art and once I got them home I was disappointed by how soft the detail on them was. So they lay for several more years untouched in my stash, until I offloaded them on eBay for a very healthy mark-up because by that point they had gone OOP and were apparently quite sought-after. I also have a Dust 1/48 Luftwaffe aircraft kit. It's a basic snap-together type affair, but is a very unique "what-if" subject that a decent paint-job and an added detail or two here & there will really bring to life. One day I will dig it out of the stash and give it the treatment it deserves.

Clicking on that link you posted took me to some strange market research survey about the UK economy. I tried a second time and I landed on one of those "place marker" pages that you see after sites go down, inviting you to click on boxes taking you to similar-looking sites (I never do, it always looks dodgy). Intrigued, I did some digging and on a subject-related Facebook page I found this cleverly-done "we are ceasing trading" notice:

    Dust.jpg

So it appears that at some point during the 18 months since you placed your order, "Dust" bit the dust and is no more. At least as far as models are concerned.

Look forward to seeing the end result on this figure in due course.

Covid, or at least it's extended duration in the far east killed Dust. Paolo is now working on concepts and commission for other manufacturers. There are a still some of the gaming scale miniatures around but the selection is getting very limited.
You will be extremely lucky to find copies of this figure now. However there are an increasing number of Etsy/Patreon based independent 3D sculptors doing similarly themed models. It is a very popular genre, especially for figures of girls.
