Hi all!

Here's a lovely little figure sculpted by Maurice Corry and to be released by Frank Miniatures!

It's in 11 pieces of light grey resin and is a beaut!

I have done the face but might twiddle with the eyes some more, not sure yet

anyhoo here's a couple of pictures...

That face is looking so good Mark...Excellent work.As an answer to your question Marc...Yes, this will be the boxart of this 75mm peice from Frank Miniatures and it will also be released at Euro-Militaire in Folkestone.

I like especially the way you treated the blond hair, Mark - excellent. About the figure and the pose I am not so sure. IMHO the figure suffers from the raised shoulder syndrome - the right shoulder sits too low if he is pointing and it might be the picture but his left shoe with the crooked leg reminds me of Charle Chaplin`s appearance in "Gold Rush". Sorry for being less enthusiastic about the sculpt but the paintjob as said is great.

Hi Martin,
valid points about the way the figure looks on the photos....But !!!...Bear in mind that Mark has only joined the figure together lightly with Blu-Tack to aid the viewer in assessing how the figure will look when finished.
Up to now, he has painted only the face/hair...Excellently !!!
I am sure that you will find out that once the main body areas are glued together and base-coated that the "raised shoulder" syndrome is no longer an issue.As to the boot !!! This is also due partly to the fact that the figure is standing on an incline ,signalling that over the hill is the enemy and the groundwork can either be built up at the rear, to emphasise this or less so, so that the rear of the figure is seen.
All in all , the sculpt/Casting is excellent.By the way,there is also a bayonet and rifle sling included.

Hi Pete!
As the right shoulder area is part of the main body of the figure I am not sure if Blue Tack (which is clearly evident on the joint and fit of the other shoulder /arm) will have any influence on this raised shoulder-problem, but I am prepared to correct my remarks. The problem is emphasized by the epaulette that sits on top of the shoulder and should normally add more volume to the already raised shoulder. By the way the fringes of the epaulette do not follow the movement of the shoulder as well.
The angled heel of the left boot (sorry for my strange English - I hope you will get what I mean) and size of the boot are likewise not changed by Blue Tack or glue.
Whatever - looking at the number of new releases Maurice Corry is permanently getting out I still tip my hat for his skills as a sculptor and hope that my comments are regarded as minor critique.

The shoulder looks good in real life and the boot is floating due to my shoddy pinning that will be resolved in final fixing

The pants and boots are about sorted, I'm planning on doing the ( quite heavy ) weathering towards the end of the painting to keep everything in harmony... sortathing

I have yet to see on smooth, very nice. Dynamic pose and nice start.

Absolutely super paint job Mark just super. Like what you have done to capture the mud (remembering he is a guardsman). Your tunic is wonderful and the blue of his trousers stunning. What did you use for his trousers?
