Murat at Tilsit

    Hi all,

    Here's Murat at Tilsit. Another Historex conversion. Saddle braiding was sculpted in A&B putty. I deliberately modelled the horse as an Andalusian (picture from a DK book). Mane was sculpted as plaited with red ribbons. Funny enough, the blue ribbon on the tail (from my ref) clashes with all that red trimmings.
    After the battle, Murat entered the Polish capital Warsaw and flowers were strewn in his path. I have a predilection for dried flowers (also an abundant supply...)

    Excellent work. I would turn his sabre so the sling rings are on the top per Poniatowski below:

    I love Historex figures, but they are much more difficult to see these days than they used to be. As I get older, my presbyopia tends to push me in the direction of the larger scales.

    Dear All,

    thanks for your kind comments. Mike, in retrospect, I fully agree with you that the sabre would look more natural turned the other way. As to that interesting picture of Poniatowski, I'll do a separate posting just for you.
