Looking good Paul, I'm curious as to the additions to the face? Great work on the braiding.

    Very nice Blabsy!

Like the tinkering on the eyes and the face fungus. Colours are excellent...spot on, 'in scale'!

    Cheers,
    Jon.

    Blige!
    That was a quick responce,
Carl;the additions are due to Mike French's casting cleaning, he use to polish his figures and it was lacking some features like a nose.it was flat.
so out with the Duro on with a new brow, eye's and a nose.

Jon,still some mileage to go on this, taking on a life of its own at mo, get to a stage on one part ie ; lace then think no its wrong take a new tack!
ANY WAY MORE TO FALLOW LATER!
    Best Regards

    Hi Paul,

I've always loved this figure, ever since I saw pics of Bill Horan's version many years ago, but you're the first person I've seen paint it here on the Planet. You've made a great start and I'm hoping you'll show us plenty of pics as you go along. Great progress so far.

    GUDAY MATE!
The figure is amazing detail wise,Mike did a grand job barring mind this came out in the 80's, the hobby has not moved on that much, this fig was hand cast, not great but worth the time when cleaned up.
I'm doing an artical for mil/mod on it. as a fallow up to the 11th dragoon I painted last year.
    Keep Safe

Hi Paul, always loved that figure and painted one myself years ago. I remember being blown away by the detail at the time in the releases. Nice to see your work on the facial details as Mike and David loved to "polish" the figures with a wire brush after cleaning, which did sometimes soften the crisp sculpting work. I look forward to following your progress on this piece.

What a fantastic figure, I remember being at Mike's house to pick up a figure and that was on his workbench. The detail for then stands right up to standards now. I wish Mike would have kept himself involved with the hobby, his talent is missed. Great paint job.

    Cheers Rob,
Sadly Mike endded up a porter in his local hospital, as he'd earn more!!!!
I know its wrong to waste talent like him, but in truth we pay little for what we get, sorry to diss us as painters we want so much for so little......
One good thing mike never sold out,he still has the masters, well as far as I'm aware?
The grape vine has never said their out there in any ones back pocket, as they'd be trying to flog them by now.
As I've said in the past it was a black day when he stopped traiding.

    Hi All,
I know this will look no differant but hang in there, the braid on the jacket is dead as in flat and the cuff's are russian as in bright gold, the previous post I showed the cuff was pre painted and now its all had a glaze of gold over it!
Also Painted the trousers again I was not happy with the way the paint had dried so I did them in oils.
Today I had a tidying sesh on this area (braid) I will take more photo's in the morning and post if time permits.
    Best Regards

    Hi Paul,

I like the changes to the trousers. The second paint job is clearly better than the first. I'm keen to see some close up pics to admire the detail of the braidwork and to see how you've painted it. Great work mate.

    Blabsy/Rob,

So what ever happened to Mike French?

Everyone has a hiatus at some point or another,.... but if sculpting is in one's blood then you're gonna return someday? Maybe?

    Cheers,
    Jon.

As you say sculpting/painting it dont go away? well for some, maybe he's in to another area of interest of history???

    Hi Tony,
