    Hi guys,

This figure is a bit of a "gap filler" between my last figure and the next. My heart's not really in it, but its a bit of fun and I thought I'd share my progress with you anyway.

The main challenge with this figure is finding the right balance of shadows and highlights on the tunic, so that it looks suitably worn and grubby while still retaining its original white colour.

I've never done a knight before; it's not really a period of history that interests me, although I know its very popular with many other Planeteers. From what I can gather this Knight represents the Order of Santiago in the 13th Century, which exitsted mainly in Spain and Portugual, and fought mainly against the Moors. Apparently the Order of Santiago continues to this day in Spain, which would make it one of the longest surving religious orders in the world.

Pizarro Miniatures produce an eclectic bunch of fantasy and historical minatures, however from what I can see the quality of the sculpting and casting varies considerably from onekit to the next.

I picked this one up from Matt Grech at El Greco Minatures at Euro last year and I have to say the casting was pretty ordinary (that's not Matt's fault); lots of flash and pretty heavy mould seams that required a fair amount of sanding and filing.

As I said, this figure is really just something to do until I receive the latest bust of the Australian Lighthorseman from Phil Walden (hopefully) next week.

Please feel free to tell me to stop wasting my time on crusaders knights and get back to modern stuff!!

Not really your period and just a gap filler.
It will probably turn into another one of your classics!
I'll be following this one with interest.

Hey Tony, look upon it as a challenge and even if you do wimp out , you could always change it into a Fantasy piece. Call it "Time travelling Mercenary" that way you could do a camo scalf and coat. :D;)(y)
    Will be following.

Despite your encouragement guys, I have a feeling this one is destined to stay on the workbench for some time. I'm just not feeling the love.

Most of the time I can't walk past the hobby room without opening the door and popping in for a quick fiddle, and emerging bleary-eyed four or five hours later, but with this guy, I'm finding excuses to not go in the hobby room.

I'm sure we've all had that experience before; I know I certainly have.

I appreciate your encouragement guys, but rather than force myself to finish this figure, I think I'll wait for my new Lighthorseman bust and have a few nights off.
