Tomorrow is my Dads birthday so I decided to paint him a figure of his grandad, my great grand father. James Arthur Meehan from Cork, an immigrant from Ireland serving in the Rhode Island Volunteer Infantry fighting for his new country in the SpanAm war. My great grand dad is the second from your left. he is the spitting image of my Dad.

I did something similar years ago for my Dad. He served on HMS St. Kitts, RN in the 50's. I was able to track down an old Frog kit of a different ship of the same class (Battle Class destroyer) and converted and waterlined the kit to my dad's ship. My Dad is a tough old bird but I actually got a tear out of him on that one. He was proud of his time in the service having also served on the last British aircraft carrier (HMS Ark Royal) and battleship (HMS Vanguard)

What a fantastic tribute to your grandfather and a great present for your father . My dad was in WW11 and my son is now in the marines if you put their two pictures together apart from the uniforms you would think it's the same person , so family likeness is something that can go on for some time .
