The knife and powder horn have been completed and attached to the body. The head is still in the process and I am working on the ear jewelry now. The war paint to the face will be added last.

Can anyone tell me about the color of the sash end. Was it red or a gold lace on the hanging end down from the waist?

    I really like this.
The colour choice is awesome. You did the ivory horn very, very lifelike.
    How you did it??
Looking forward to the next step.

Guys, Sashes from this period were typically crimson in color. The "fringe" would be the same color as the sash itself.~Gary

    Guy,

I'm working on a similar figure by Nimrod, so I'm curious about what references your using.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    BTW, excellent paint job

Marc - I gave the powder horn 2 coats of Humbrol unbleached Linen # 103 and then proceeded to do an acrylic black wash over the unbleached linen. After drying I mixed two drops of unbleached linen and white on an index card and carefully drybrushed the horn. After this dried I gave it a coat of Humbrol satin clear which gave it a slight sheen. Thanks Mike,

I am using the original Box art in addition to Griffing's book on the Northeast Indians. I also have the Osprey, American Woodland Indians #228 and the Osprey Tribes of The Iroquois Confederacy. My main problem has been the turnback colors. I have seen Blue, White and buff used. I also had a question on the sash ends which Gary answered me on. I ordered the same figure by Nimrod from Michigan Toy Soldier back in April and have yet to recieve it. It looks like a nice figure to pair up with the Rogers Ranger they also have available....hope this helps

what did you use for the gold lace? I was thinking about using printer's ink, but I'm not sure if thats the way to go... also, I cant find any info on the colour for the inside of the jacket.

    thanks,
    Mike.

    Hello Mike.
I used Poly S acrylic brass for the gold lace over an undercoat of Humbrol Chocolate #98. The inside of the jacket and or turnbacks were hard for me to find any definate info on. I found pictures of the British jacket with white liner, buff liner as well as the blue liner that I used. The liner should be the same as the cuffs and lapels I believe. I am now working on the war paint of the face and will post pics later today.(Friday)
    Hope this helps

The major part of the figure is done with just the normal touch-ups remain. Now on to the base and groundwork.

The base will have a tree with branches overhanging onto the base. I will do a rough-in tomorrow and take a pic of the idea I have.
