Hi all, here is my latest project of the Pilli Pilli 90mm Giesha girl. Alot of fun to paint. Let me know what you think.

    Hi Andrew,

Nice subject, well executed. The white on the face seems a little chalky to me though. Did the figure come with the mat?

Excellent painting Andrew. The white on the face is her make-up. Well done.

    Well done Andrew,

Another beautiful figure from your production line.

Did you check with Stiff on the nipple colour? Apparently he's done extensive research on the subject and is the resident expert on Asian nipple colourings here on pF.

Thanks to all for your remarks. Its much appreciated. The white chalky appearance on the face is depicting the make up which in those days was very powdery and gave this effect, not like the modern Giesha we see today that has high quality stage make up. Also many Giesha died at young ages as there was a high lead content in the make up, quite sad really. Hope this clears that one up for anyone interested. The mat was included in the kit as was a lantern which l will have to scratch build as mine was broken and un repairable.
    Thanks again.
    Cheers Andrew

    Ahhh, Now I get it

    Andrew,
have seen some of your other work, very well researched and well finished.

Now I understand why you depicted the face makeup the way you did!!!

    Appreciate the explanation,
and like the finish of the figure, kimono and so forth.

    Cheers

    Hello Andrew,

    Very nice paint job!

The make-up is very realistic (much more than mine, which tends to be a little too tame and 'modern'). I also like the kimono and obi combination of colours.

And err..., the nipple is spot-on.

    Cheers,
    Quang
