Louis Chouard, portrayed as Brigadier General in Russia in 1812, at Borodino, where he is in command of the Carabineers Brigade. Made from Historex kits, the horse has been increased in height. Painted mostly with acrylics, some oils and some metallics.

Very nicely done. Love the metals... copper is difficult to execute.
How exactly did you go about making the horse taller? I have interest in horse conversion and any information is very valuable.

    Well done

Proof that Historex still has a place in the hobby-beautifully executed conversion.

Hi Colin, here are some pics of the horse. I cut it into pieces, used a paper clip as an armature fore the legs, shimmed the body halves with the historex base, sliced the neck to bend it, and put it together with green stuff.

Let me give you my compliments for the conversion and the quality of it.
Historex isn't easy and you managed it well
Only a small question...where did you find Chouard in white coat? I always saw it in Blu as usual for the general.

For my knowledge the general get the cuirass and the helmet with black chenille ( the colour of the plume of their bicorne) maintaining the Blu uniform with golden leaveas topical of they'r rank

    Ivo,
You are correct. I am to understand from searching historical references that the Carabineer general had a blue coat that was cut in the Carabineer style. I made the figure for a customer, and he requested a white coat, even though I said I did not think that historically correct. It is his figure, so he can have a white coat. Glad you caught it.

Blancard ( colonel of the 1st rgt. )wore this uniform but with sky Blu saddle and red chenille on the helmet.
Let me find the pictures of the figure I did years ago and I will post it
