I think that the modeller had the idea from this old picture depict the Algerian Zouave on the 19th Century French Army

Very nice start... I've been mulling over the same figure at the local shop.
The ground work that came with it should be interesting as well.

Will look good when complete. You've convinced me to buy it on my next trip to the shop.
