I got a solid weekend of painting in but did not meet my goals. I spent more tome on the piping than I wanted to. Not sure to thank Mick for the 57 Regiment of Foot Plates or call him names! Here are some progress pictures. I'll post some more in a day or two.

    All comments welcome

Mike, this is really a very difficult figure to paint, I get twisted eyes only thinking the work you have done so far.
Like very much the yellow and think the figure will be a sucess when done.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

Both of the Franklin books are must-haves if you paint the British Army circa 1750-1815 imo. They are very well done, akin to the Rousselot works.

I agree but there are three books not two: Army 1750- , Army of the Napoleonic Wars, Britsh Napoleonic Artillery... Certainly the British Army equivalent to Rousselot.

    Cheers

Ah yes the rocket troops book which was published before the artillery book. So there are indeed 4 tomes to consider!!!

Made a lot of progress this week. I stripped the torso, filed the piping more flat so that it would be easier to paint with more clarity and repainted as I thought the first attempt sucked! I'm much more pleased with the piping as it is now much more sharp and distinct and probably more in scale. I also used different mixes for the red, black and white.

I have started the pants. they will be a warm white almost linen color if i do it right! the Apron will will be a cooler white similar the cross strap.

Hope to have this this one done by Sunday!

    Cheers,

    Mike

Looking great Mike. That lace is a bear. Well done in this scale!!!

The Franklin books are amazing... In some ways better than rousellot... More technical, less artistic. Imo the uniform questions are more definitively answered by referencing these books.

Mike you should be very happy with where you're at so far... Stay steady and bring this one home.

I made progress this weekend. I was able to get the pants completed. I also got a super solid start on the Apron. But I haven't taken any photos yet. I'll get those posted this evening. Hoping to this figure this week sometime.
