    Marcel ... many thanks :)

    Carl ... cheers!

Jeff ... thanks, and yes a remarkable man.

Steve ... soory for the confusion, Stuart from Black Sheep mentioned in an earlier post that this version was only available on the show stall .... i had'nt realised that when i bought it!

Chris .... many thanks, the object in the left epaulet is his beret. I only know because it says so in the painting instructions!!!

after a couple more hours messing about i'm calling the skin and eyes finished, still work to do on the hair and eyebrows

    Mark,
Apologies for that, it looked like a shell dressing when I looked at your original photo - didn't have my glasses on!
Still looking good though, like the worn finish on the bowler.

    Chris.

Chris ... no problem at all :) as i put the base coat on the beret there is actually a sculpted edge to it! lovely.

    Progress ( slow ..... )

this is a really nice sculpt. the dennison smock is very intricate and i've spent about 4 hours just blocking it in!!! next stage is adding the camo colours and then tighten it all up and get the transitions looking nice, about 10 to 15 hours at my snails pace :)

the hat i'm leaving alone till i weather the figure, i imagine it would be quite dirty by this stage of the battle as indeed would it's wearer.......

    Mark,

What did you use as base shades for the smock & beret?

    TIA

    Carl ... cheers! :)

    Stuart .... many thanks :)

Chris ... the smock is GW Graveyard earth as a Base with Base + AV Light flesh for the high and AV German camo black brown to shade .... the beret is just based with AV Red for the moment

    Marcel .... many thanks :)

ok i have done some work on the camo design ....

    A. is the base coat down ... GW Graveyard earth as a Base with Base + AV Light flesh for the high and AV German camo black brown to shade

    B. is the green blocked in ( very thinly as i want the baes coats shadeing to show through ) used AV Luftwaffe cam. green

    C. shows the brown laid over the design, used AV Burnt umber. some shading started on the top half

    D. re-established the base shading and hopefully got the look of a faded denison smock, weathering later will break the design down even more

    :)

    thanks Carl :)

so i finally got back to this after the extended goth weekend ;) and a visit to the Nationals at the weekend...

arms are done and work to do on cuffs, hands and gun/brolly .... then i will go back over the greens on the dennison and just add a bit of highlighting i think, looks a bit mushy to me :)

pants are on the way but need to soften the transitions somewhat....

    any way here's a pic..........

Voond da bar. . . very eye catching. . .

I think this figure is so appealing, and especially because of the bowler and
what we here in the Colonies call an umbrella. Wow, if I could just paint
a five o'clock shadow half as good as that.

A wonderful WIP of a very interesting figure. Excellent photographs as well.

Outstanding work Mark. I'm following your progress with great interest. I'm particularly keen to see what colours you're using on the Denison smock.

This a nice SBS. Thanks for sharing. Yes I'm lucky as well. Bought it too at Euro and will start the painting proces on this one too very soon.
Your SBS will help me through the proces.
I've found the information on the person involved via the Market Garden Museum at Oosterbeek. I live 30 miles from the place and visit the museum regarly.

The museum is through a refurbishment (is this correct spelling?) and looks great now again.

    Keep them posted

Rick ... thanks man! it's a great figure and a pleasure to paint :)

    Pedro .... many thanks :)

Tony .... many thanks :) i'm trying very hard to limit my range of colour on the smock, trying to keep it all tied together :( it's working-ISH!

Rob ... thanks :) and well done on picking this fellow, its a cracker :)

    Steve ... cheers mate :)

Mitsutaka ... many many thanks :)

Cheung ... again many thanks :)

after a period of many distractions i have been at it again :)

hands are about done and just need weathering with the rest at the end, umbrella is also done and i chose to put a pinstripe onto it for some visual interest. cuffs almost finished and just want a final highlight and wash to tie them down. heads on for good and i've done some work on the belt and holster.... Phew!

The smock turned out great Mark. Are you going to darken the beret?
