If we keep in mind that the Cossacks in the 17th Century on a campaign hardly knew such a thing as " supply " or " logistics ", this means that they had to complete their field equipment "at the man " to carry around .
Therefore Cossacks " in the field " as shown on many pictures that they always carry one or more leather bags with them ... :

Andy's Cossack is also equipped with two large Leather bags , while Andy has sculpted the first of these bags according to this model ... :

And like this template - green and brown - I have it also painted .
    For the green I used ... :

The Brown emerged from these colors ... :

And here the finished bag ...

Welcome to the New Year and back to my workbench !
On many pictures of Cossacks from the 17th century is another small leathar beg to be seenthat was carried under the armpit.

    Ist a "Cartouche Bag".
Inside the bag there was about a half-dozen individual subjects divided , and in each of these subjects were in tubes of wood or cardboard individually metered powder charges ... :

It is the same principle as that of the " Twelve Apostles" , formerly worn around the waist individual powder charges in wooden containers - and a precursor of the paper cartridge ...

Fortunately, show us the sources of such a pocket model with turn green lid , which I have recommended Andy ... :

This fits in with the other bag . For the green I have in turn taken these colors ... :

Fot browntones I take the same Colors as of the leather bealt...:

And now it looks like this (Makro is cruel, I know...)... :

Also, I have the handle of the Cossack whip " Nagaika " mounted on the sash ... :

A Cossack must have the famous whip "Nagaika" !

So our friend had to get such a whip. But which to choose? There were tens of different variations, depending on the personal taste of the wearer.

After a long search I founded this replica with a stylized wolf's head as a handle ...:

This version I have Andy proposed - and he has sculpted it wonderful!

With these colors, I painted the "Nagaika" to show Dark Ivory ...:

And so the tiny whip handle has become - I'm glad that I've managed to get out to emphasize even the eyes and the fangs of the wolf's head with the brush ...:

    Looking good Martin.
The ivory effect on the whip handle looks excellent. You are doing a good job bringing out the details of the sculpt with your paintwork... well done.
Listing the colours you use for each element is also very helpful.

    Still following

We come to the next detail ... :
Our Cossack course need a container in which he carries his gunpowder with him .
Near would have been the famous " powder horn " that even was used by the Cossacks in the 17th Century .
    Our template carries one... :

There were These horns in various forms - sometimes even with two " outputs " , one for the fine " ignition powder " , the other for the coarse gunpowder ... :

I would have Andy told to sculpt some horn like these , but I did not, because it looked to me somehow " wild west moderately " from .

So I made my search for an alternative. In my book on weapons and equipment of the Cossacks I have found this image of a powder flask ... :

This variant it should be - but unfortunately the Picture was just black and white.

So I made made my Research further on - and for I knew what I have to look , I have found themselves once more evidence - mostly artifacts.

These things were made from antlers or - more rarely - by crotches.

Hurrah , I had my template - and 've recommended it to Andy .

He gave the Cossack such a powder flask on his way !

Since I wanted a highly-detailed painting as possible , I have a tiny thing today painted separately.

Only the powder bottle was attached with carpet tape on a toothpick ...

    ... and then primed.

Also, I have upgraded the bottom-mounted opening for filling the powder bottle - which is made by a pinhead.

    Then it was painted .

With Silver and " German Grey" I tried darzusellen tiny decorative fittings on the powder flask , the remaining metal parts are labeled " Oily Steel" painted and coated with a thin wash of black / Oily Steel .

The bottle itself, I have painted in shades of brown .

    These colors were used ...:

And so it has become ... :

:wideyed: Wow! I just admire how devoted you are about getting the details as realistic as you can. I also find it amazing that you used 8 colors on such a tiny piece, but you left out the engraved naked lady :D!
