Today at first I have sent my Cossack to tha "bath".

The figure is cleaned - and again in the ultrasonic bath.

Since the ultrasonic is highly compatible with the materials of the figure (lead foil , resin , Milliput modeling material ), the small Cossack has suffered no damage in the "bathroom"...



Instead shows the cloudiness of the water , where the dirt that was previously on the figure, now is ... :

Now the figure just clean under clear water rinse - done!

Then I longly waited until I was sure that everything is dry.

Next step was to glue the metal pins into the boot - heels , which will keep the Cossacks first on the block work and then later on his final base. Residual water in the pin holes can bring the metal pins in the figure later to rust , rust grows and can blow off parts of the figure later literally !



I glue the the pins again with " Stabilit Express" two-component glue ... :



The most important aspect is that both pins are as parallel as possible, otherwise you have to turn around behind it ( dangerous! breakage! ) Or the figure later glue them under tension ( also breakage! )

Even if the makro lens distorts it something - for me it is well done in parallel ... :

Today, the small Cossack comes with pins on your working block, agai I use"Stabilit Express" two-component adhesive.



Then - again primed with "Army Painter" grey ....


My experience is:
The darker the primer, the better you can still see errors in the figure, which require rework ...

The next part here comes at Wednesday.

Then I will paint again ...

Never occurred to me to use a ultra sonic cleaner, but seems better than scrubbing with a toothbrush at the sink, and more thorough!

Thus, the first brush strokes "without supervision" (ie workshop) on the figure.

I started with the right hand and tried to "stucture" the smooth back of the hand ...



...as much as possible with colors and brushes ...:

For sleeves through the hand is defined with a narrow black "outlining".

The small ring on his finger, which I had modeled in addition, I have done like this:

A very very thin wash of black in the ring around, then a small gold dot to indicate the ring setting.

Finally I have with these colors ...



Painted ... a ruby​​, which was decorated in the right place even with a small white reflex point - similar to the eyes. The reflex point brings the gem now to "shine"...

Today I tried the blue , that I had choosed for the Kaftan...

I have painted the front and lower part of the arm with it.

Basic color: "Dark Prussian Blue" (3 parts) and "German Grey" (part 1)

First shadow: base color plus a splash of black

Deep Shadows: Pure Black

First lights: Base color plus a little "Light Flesh"

Second Light: Basic color plus something more "Light Flesh".

With the high lights I have been very sparingly under the arm (shadow zone).



Now it looks like this..:



A quiet dark blue, in my opinion, ideal as a "Detail Table" is ...:

Always nice to follow your works in progress martin.

But I don't like your new way of posting pictures. When I click on them I get some logon screen and no picture :-(
I'm surfing with an iPad, can that be it?

Today I have painted the rear/upper part of the arm.

The folds at the top are sculpted quite "hard" - and like this i have painted them.

The lights go up almost to the White ...

I have not yet painted the braid on the cuff - I'm still not clear about the color it will become...

Photography is today not really good as You can see - it's so dark and grey over Bremen ...

I like the shade of blue you have developed here. I'm sure the sculpt makes painting alot easier with the well defined folds and wrinkles.

Today I have decited about the colour, the laces of the kaftan will become: Light green.

I used this colours for that:

Middletone: "German Uniform Green" (3 parts) and "Flat Yellow" (1 part), for the dark a bit nore "Germann Uniform green" and for the highligts I added some "Light Flesh" to the middletone.



Now it looks like this...:
