    Hey Guys,

Here is my latest figure. A 54MM Pegaso 42nd Regiment. This was my first Tartan. It definitely had it challenges. But the socks were the real challenge!

Thanks to Anders for helping me with Tartan and Socks. I also want to thank Ray Farrugia for his brilliant "Piper Kenneth McKay " post. I must have referred to his post a hundred times while painting this figure!

I hope the pics are not too dark.;)

    All comments welcome.

EXCELLENT, Mike! Every aspect of it. Great job! For those of you who are not aware of the fact, next month will mark ONE YEAR since Mike picked up the brush. Nice learning curve!

Michael the tartan turned out great and it can really be a pain! The only thing i can comment is about the eyes. They lack the iris from what i can see on the first pics.

    Hello everyone,

    Thanks for the comments.

Jason, you will get the hang of acrylics. Just continue to slap paint but don't give up the oils.

Mike, I'll trade you a bottle of Tulsa Water for a Bottle of Dallas Water(y)

Steve, you are correct sir. It has been almost a year.

Thanks to Rob, Carl, Marc Pedro and Jose for their comments

    Hi Dimitrios,

The Iris are there. It's just my poor photography skills and bad lighting that account for the poor picture. I will try to take an updated picture today in better light and post it here.

Thanks for your comment and keen eye.

Beautiful job, Michael. I particularly like the kilt and plaid, and you did a great job with the feather bonnet, though the pix are a little dark for my aging eyes.
It's really nice to see that some sculptors are interested in making highlanders, but I do wish that they would spend an extra buck (Euro?) on a book on highland uniforms. This officer hurried out without his dirk or gorget, and should talk to his tailor about how many strips of lace go on his jacket. Most noticeable, though, is the fact that his sporran has eight tails instead of the regulation six (later five).
But these minor problems detract little from a really fine paint job.

    Mike,

Nice work on a challenging piece! I've always liked this figure. Looks like you nailed the crimson sash, what was your mix for that, if you dont mind?

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for the comment! This is a really cool figure.

The mix for the sash is Reaper Blood Red and Vallejo Violet Red and I used Reaper's Walunt Brown with the base for the shadows. I played with the ratios until it felt right. I wish I could tell you a little more.
