I have produced the following for Gordon Mitchell, hopefully some will be used for a future knight, and some may be available separately:



There are kite shields from the 11th and 12th centuries, large and small heater shields frrom the 13th and 14th centuries, a mace, an axe, sword in scabbard, sheathed daggers X 2, lance with pennant (on a skewer!) and two leaf style spear/lance heads. The surfaces of the heater shields and later kite shield are smooth, the Norman kite shield's edging is through rivetted.

Sorry to be a pooper but the tear drop or kite shields were curved. I used to make these full sized by laminating wood, I even have one in the attic (buyer paid but never collected) . All large body shields are curved including this flat Roman shields.

They look great otherwise.

The Norman kite shield is flat, the other one, and both heater shields are curved. The Roman shields (not shown) I have made are also curved apart from the hexagonal and round ones. My curved shields are all made from several layers of laminated plasticard. It should be possible to curve the Norman shield if required, once cast in resin, merely by heating it with hot water over a jam jar.

It's not known if all kite shields were curved, artwork up to the early 12th Cent, generally depicts them as flat rather than curved. There isn't a great deal of difference between a flat shield and a slightly curved one, however once the curve increases to a certain point, it changes the way the shield can be used. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Until the unlikely event of shields from the relative periods are found, we don't really know.

Hi, Mike!

I wanted to send you a pm, but for some reason I cannot.
My question is if you had a shield suitable for a 200mm Agincourt vignette. I guess the smaller one would be valid. A helmet would also be great, but the ones for the figure do not match with the 1415 period.
For this vignette, I also need a few 200mm arrows.
In fact, I'm also searching arrows valid for 75-80mm figures.

The smaller heater shield would be suitable, but with plate armour, many knights didn't bother. A bascinet style helmet would be suitable, as would a kettle helmet for a man-at-arms.

Use needles/pins for the arrows fletched with some thin card

The shield and weapons are avilable from Gordon Mitchell. I would need a head to do a helmet. Arrows are not a problem.
