Here are a couple of pics of the FM Beneito 11th NY Fire Zouave 54 mm.

A great pose and sculpt and so - so cast.

Most of the flesh is done as is the red fireman shirt and the fez.

For me, this moment in time at first Manassas is extremely exciting. I like to think this fellow is running back to help the rest of his mates and the 69th NY near the Henry House.

Comments and critiques are always welcome.

    Thanks for looking.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I am afraid that all that red is overwhelming on the WIP photo's. :) But, I had not posted for a while...

Gary -- Thanks for the reference sites. The Troiani prints are awesome references too.

    hi keith
Thanks to show us another zouave, good start i think.
I'm always impress by the number of different uniform of zouave during the american civil war (i know this war just in the great line, but the french zouaves was fashion at this time ;) ).

Somebody can tell me how regiment of zouave fight during this conflict ?

There were many noteable Zouave units in both the Union and Confederate sides. From my limited knowledge, they were no more and no less valorous than any of the other thousands of participants on both sides.

The 11th NY Militia "Fire Zouaves" did not fare very well at First Bull Run. They were recruited from the Fire Companies of New York City. Not much experience... After a charge by Jeb Stuarts fearsome :) Black Horse Cavalry, they ran. Later in the battle, many of them returned to fight with the 69th NY and helped defend the Green regimental banner. After the Bull Run debacle the regiment was disbanded.

Gary thoughtfully provided two links with very good info on the 11th NYSV.

Just one episode in a fascinating history.

it's the occasion for me to know more about this conflict.
So the zouave wasn't an elite troop ? contrary of our

Keith, yours looks better than the boxart, I might just consider this figure after seeing yours

Sebastien, in answer to your question, the American Zouaves were considered to be elite, but that was not always the case with every Zouave regiment, and the Battle of 1st Manasas was little more than two armed mobs fighting; don't get me wrong, there was gallentry on both sides, but these "armies" at this battle were far from professional veterans they would be at the end of the war.

Matt- Thanks for better answering Sebastiens question. It's a nice piece but the casting is really off when compared to the latest Pegaso and Elite examples. I would still recommend it though.

Roc and Xenofon -- Thank you for your nice commets. It's nice to have finally found a red combo that works for me... :)
