Just finished this chap , the culmination of quite a lot of work getting the necessary parts together. The figure is mostly of interest because of the rather unusual kit. The 8th Battalion were a Territiorial unit sent first to Egypt, then to Gallipoli as reinforcements in May 1915.They had second line equipment compared with the Regulars .

He wears the Wolseley helmet, and the 1903 Bandolier equipment , and carries a Charger-Loading Long Lee-Enfield.
I got the buckles done as lost-wax castings in Birmingham, and the rifle and helmet are resin copies of my own originals. The uniform is a heavily improved commercial one from Sideshow.

He appears exactly as on the boat just before landing , from some photos taken on board the lighter taking them ashore.

One of the greatest pleasure of 1/6th figures is that you don't get stuck with one pose !

    Superb work Tony!

You should have your own little section in York museum! It would certainly bring in a whole new crowd.

    Cheers,
    Jon.

Very nicely done: the Lancashire Fusiliers 'won' 6 V.C.s before breakfast, probably a greater feat than the 24th Foot at Rorke's Drift (I think that the only medals awarded in 1879 were the V.C. and D.C.M.).
