I wanted to upload some pics of the new figure I am working on, kind of a WIP of a newbie. This is the head of the Andrea 90mm "Wrath of God", I plan to post pics as monumental painting occurs. I look forward to any and all coments, suggestions or out and out insults (just kidding PM the insults). Thanks for looking.

    Mike

    update

Thanks for the comments I really appreciate them. Please see my recent work. I have base coated all of the cloth parts with black but I decided to do something different. After admiring what Hardy does to metal to make it look like wool I decided to give it a try. You can kind of tell in the photo's but it does have some texture to it and hope it will retain this texture as all the shading is applied. I stippled the paint on to try and get this texture, I think it worked for the most part.

In the last photo I have started to apply the highlites in a way that is foreign to me because I had to continue the stipple application to not lose the wool texture of the cloth. It looks rough now but I have some ideas for it that will smooth it out and add to the wool look. Hopefully my next report will be good news and good results.

well, I got aggrresive on the painting and fitting and fixing and finished early. I have one question. before the question; this is not the base this figure will reside on, just a tester. I would like to incorporate the carved cross in the scene but am not sure if it will work the way I want. Is the scale okay to work with this figure?

I 've noticed you 've improved your painting skill with this beautiful figure , beautiful effects of the blacks and also the mail is well done.. compliments, for me the scale of the cross could be right.

    cheers

Excellent work so far Mike. I like what you have done with the tunic as well as the boots. I think the cross would work out alright scale wise.

looking really good. Think hard before you use the cross, there's so much going on with this figure that you wouldn't want too much to detract from the impact.
Maybe a plain cross but I think the carved celtic version is possibly a bit much.

Thanks for the input everyone. Derek, I totally agree with you about the cross. I looked at it all day trying to make it work but think your advice is probably the best bet. The good thing is I will have the cross to use with another figure. thank you again for the comments.
