hi.

as the title says. which acrylic paints dry out very matte and are also good for good and smooth gradients when blending?

any opinions about my pre choices?
- green stuff world arclics
- vallejo moodel colors
- scale75 paints

looking for acrylics to paint miniatures nice and harmonic. not for every day plsy. i dont like these miniatures who look glossy or with a shine like they got grabbed with fatty fingers.

Lot easier to use a matt varnish afterwards. Some colours in the same matt range still end up with a bit of shine. Although I have not tried them, the Scale 75 artist tube acrylic are supposed to be matt. They are also a bit slower drying so may give time for some blending.

Smooth gradients is harder the more matt the paint is.
That being said, Scale75 is the most matt paint of these 3. I'd say Kimera Kolors is at least as matt, if not more.

I second both points. I use matte and gloss paints, but if I want a matte finish, I use a matte coat (Testor's DullCote). And regarding matte colors that finish glossy, watch out for Vallejo's Model Color Prussian Blue. I don't know the chemistry behind it, but it finishes with a bit of a gloss. I use both Vallejo's and Andrea's Prussian Blue. Andrea's dries absolutely dead-flat matte, but Vallejo's is a bit glossy.

Hi folks!

Brad, just add a drop of Tamiya Flat Base to the Vallejo paint and it will be absolutely Matt.
