Wanted: Edwards Vacuum Pump

Discussion in 'General Figure Talk' started by Cheeses, Dec 25, 2012.

I have been trying to source a second hand Edwards vacuum pump for sometime, with no success. It's for a resin de-gassing chamber. I am after either an RV12 or an ES200. Can anyone help? I am willing to pay a competitive price and will travel to collect if the seller is in the south of the country or the Midlands.

Alternatively,aAny ideas of other makes of pump with the same specs as the RV12 or ES 200?

    Merry Christmas!
    Regards
    Cheeses

    Hi,
you can easily manufacture a vac chamber using a vac cleaner motor/pump. You must use a substantial chamber (thick walled, to prevent collapse when vac-ing, possibly an old pressure cooker pan) and a piece of 1/4 plate glass to put over the top to seal it. Doesn't really need to be more than that for de-gassing resin/rubber.
    hope this helps,

Sorry, I know absolutely nothing about vacuum pumps, I've never needed one and I've never bought one, wouldn't even know how to use one, and if anyone ever suggests otherwise they're just telling silly stories and they probably have one themselves and stuff....:unsure:

Yeah, cheers for that Mark. Has it been a long day? Or are you just bored?

I see that no one has quite answered your question, Cheeses. Although the RV 12 is available in a 230V version, Edwards is an American company. If you have a few grand to spare, try here for a new one: http://www.edwardsvacuum.com/Products/View.aspx?sku=A65501903
If you contact the company, perhaps they can give you the name of a British dealer who carries them.
