    Hi Dave, here are some refs to English (and some French) knights' arms of the period. Most are purported to have fought at Agincourt.

    There are three rolls (if you can find them online) which claim to list knights who were, or were likely, to have fought:
    • Fenwick Roll
    • Rouen Roll
    Check out the College of Arms site ref these:
    • Agincourt Roll
    There are lots of armorial 'Rolls' available online, eg list here and here and here. Examples are Powell's Roll and this Breton one... but most are too early for Agincourt (though as the main family arms probably changed little you could perhaps retro-fit an earlier arms to a known participant).

    Otherwise I have found (click on the thumbnails):

    Hi Dave
    according to the (poor) information I have the shield for mounted people in 1/9 scale should be about 60 mm x 65 mm. True are all comments about the evolution of shields, furthermore the shield is something that must comply the feeling of the single knight. Only a minimal size should take into account since the shield to be held by the knight must cover from elbow to the hand. So, assuming an average height of 170 cm, using the proportion 1/8 head/height, the length from elbow to hand should be approximately 45 cm, scaled to 1/9 is about 5 cm.

    Your work on the shield is looking very good Dave.

    For anyone interested in the development of shields through the ages, I found this chart:-

    Coming on nicely

    I see that you went for a nice easy one... can't blame you there ;)

    If you fancy more of a challenge you could try something like Richard Earl of Cambridge :eek:

    .... or the bastardy arms of Thomas Beaufort would be novel :cool:

    BAD NEWS DAVE...

    Not only was Roger Bigod way before Agincourt (c1245-1306: the battle was 1415), but he also dropped the simple Or, a cross gules for Per pale or and vert, a lion rampant gules upon becoming Marshal of England in 1269.

    He was the last of his line (the first Bigod came across with The Conqueror: probably had the same simple arms). The lineage was:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Bigod_of_Norfolk
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_Bigod,_1st_Earl_of_Norfolk
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Bigod,_2nd_Earl_of_Norfolk
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_Bigod,_3rd_Earl_of_Norfolk
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Bigod,_4th_Earl_of_Norfolk
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Bigod,_5th_Earl_of_Norfolk

    By Agincourt it had become an Earldom given to Thomas of Brotherton then passed to his son Edward, then daughter Margaret and some years after her death to Thomas Mowbray, who was with Henry V's army but missed Agincourt as he had to return to Blighty due to dysentery :sick:

    It's now with Edward Fitzalan-Howard, the 18th Duke and also a Marshal of England (since you ask:Quarterly, 1st: Gules on a Bend between six Cross-crosslets fitchy Argent an Escutcheon Or charged with a Demi-lion rampant pierced through the mouth by an arrow within a Double Tressure flory counterflory of the first (Howard); 2nd: Gules three Lions passant gardant in pale Or, Armed and Langued Azure, in chief a Label of three points Argent (Plantagenet of Norfolk); 3rd: Checky Or and Azure (Warenne); 4th: Gules a Lion rampant Or, Armed and Langued Azure (Fitzalan).)

    As he's also the Duke of Norfolk, he's also Hereditary Head Honcho at the College of Arms, so knows all about these things (y)

    The full succession for the Norfolk Dukedom is here.

    So: if you don't want to be anachronistic, try again ;)

    ... or, if you want the full version:

    Coronet:
    1st: A Coronet of a DukeCrest1st: Issuant from a Ducal Coronet Or a pair of Wings Gules each charged with a Bend between six Cross-crosslets fitchy Argent (Howard);
    2nd: On a Chapeau Gules turned up Ermine a Lion statant gardant with tail extended Or gorged with a Ducal Coronet Argent (Thomas of Brotherton);
    3rd: On a Mount Vert a Horse passant Argent holding in the mouth a Slip of Oak Vert fructed proper (Fitzalan).

    Escutcheon: Quarterly, 1st: Gules on a Bend between six Cross-crosslets fitchy Argent an Escutcheon Or charged with a Demi-lion rampant pierced through the mouth by an arrow within a Double Tressure flory counterflory of the first (Howard); 2nd: Gules three Lions passant gardant in pale Or, Armed and Langued Azure, in chief a Label of three points Argent (Plantagenet of Norfolk); 3rd: Checky Or and Azure (Warenne); 4th: Gules a Lion rampant Or, Armed and Langued Azure (Fitzalan).

    Supporters: Dexter a Lion, sinister a Horse both Argent the latter holding in the mouth a Slip of Oak Vert fructed proper.

    Placed behind the shield are two gold batons in saltire enamelled at the ends in black, which represent the Duke of Norfolk's office as Earl Marshal and Hereditary Marshal of England.

    Motto: Sola Virtus Invicta (Latin for "Virtue alone is unconquered").

    :confused: :mad: :sick: :nailbiting: :wacky: :eek: :depressed: :oops: :blackeye: :grumpy: :hungry: :arghh: :inpain: :hungover: :sour: :woot: :wideyed: :stop:
