Hey Guys!

I've been absent for some time as I am having some computer issues, I apperently had the "Sasser" Worm. My computer is running something fiercly slow but I got the worm removed! So atleast I can get on the internet now!!

I havent been ideling too much, sculpted my first bust, he is a tired GI reflecting on that days combat. He is wearing the M-43 Field Jacket.

Head is sculpted with Milliput, the red areas are Squadrons red putty to smooth out a few hard to get to spots. The body is Magic Sculpt over a Sculpey core. The arms are some sculpey that Bryon gave me, and I really like his mix!

The arms were definately the hardest part of this bust, I think I tried it 10's of times before I was happy with it. Thats the reason I used the sculpey mix instead of MS, I tried it with MS first but it cured on me

Anyways, please let me know what you think. I still need to add the straps to the helmet, but other the that he is finished.

Holy crap, dude! That's looking AWESOME!!! I particularly like the crisp edges of the clothing, which makes it look more realistic. If I may suggest three things that would make him look worn out:
1. slouch him forward ever so slightly. I noticed in the profile picture that his back is ramrod straight. How about bending him at the upper back a bit? Or just tilt the bust a wee bit forward - not too much or he'll be yelling "the bells! the bells!"
2. tilt the head a bit down too, just like with his back. I mean, he doesn't have to be looking down, but just a bit down (say 5 degrees or so down). You can always paint his eyes staring blankly forward at the viewer - think of "the 1000 yard stare."
3. open up the M42 jacket a bit. Note how the jacket's left collar folds over neatly the jacket at where the buttons are (under the jacket). How about slightly opening it up a bit and add some very slight bends in the fabric? That'll make it look worn a bit and not like he's ready for a field parade.

These are just some suggestions; of course, it's your bust. As it is, it's looking really good

Thanks for your pointers! I am not really going to do anything else to this bust, but your thoughts have been noted and stored for duture projects. I agree with the back issue, that he is a tad to straight, but would be hard to fix without redoing a bunch of crap.

Im not quite sure what you mean by the front of the bust, I understand the open up part but not the rest, I am sure its one of those DUH moments

As for the downward tilt of the head, there is quite some tilt to it already, he is kinda tilting down leftward. The picture angles dont quite show this though.

I am going to prime and start the painting on him tonight! Will be done for Tulsa for sure!
