    Thanks Grant!
I will cast a couple of Steiners eventualy when I am content.
It will be the sober type of bust, merely character.

    Thanks Chris,

it's the thought that counts :)

homecasting for this scale won't give too much trouble I guess.

I'll prepare a few for people I promised, let a bit of paintwork do a stunning job and who knows...

..maybe I will find the right compagny in time to get all the heads I have in mind to be airborn...

Rene an excellent result with the head sculpt, looks just like James Coburn. I did a 1/9 bust of Steiner years ago when I first started sculpting, yours looks much better, I keep promising myself I would revisit this bust one day and do a better job, seeing yours makes me want to do it now.

    All the best

Rene just found this on my hard drive,he is one of my early works, it is a bust of Kruger from the Cross of Iron, he was to go along with the Steiner bust. He now resides in a box somewhere in the house, maybe I will find them out some day.

    Cheers

    ...on your workbench Marc (y)

still looking for the right fit of the head to the torso.
    Some correction spinal.
when casted the junction of the head will be slightly seen, needs to be covered with a bit of putty.
When casted the fieldjacket is easily made as an option.

hm, got used to 1/16, 1/9 scales...had to get used to this.

Meaning,...tried to imagine my bionic man doll I got when I was about 7 :)

More volume, the chest ofcourse but also some changes on the neck which I placed a bit more forward.
He has a little bit of a hunch that characterizes Coburn, in my opinion.

Yap, the chest volume is much better, but do not forget the depression and the bulge that clavicle bones are creating - that would also fix the side look of the shoulders (You know what I mean) (y)
One more time, congrats on such great bust, and for perfectioning your sculpting skills in a such short time !!! Amazing !!!

    HVALA Darko!!

I decaptivated James and treated this section with chalkpowder.

went on and created a collar this way the head can be slided into place (y)

I want a perfect fit of the head to the body so only little putty will be needed for some painters.

It has been great to go through your posts and see him develop!
Like how you have gradually built up and then refined him, and then have such fine details (the ears are very well done, IMO)

one question - what are you doing to smooth down the marks from where you are sculpting?

I use water, I am just wondering if you do similar, or different?

    Cheers (and applause!) (y)(y)

    G' day Jamie.

I use thinner to smoothen some sections firstly, then I proceed with drybrushing to polish.
Afterwards for total smoothening Talens quick drying painting medium, feels like baking oil.

a part of an ear snapped, needed to largen necksection and bake the head for second time, ears are fragile but was easily repaired in the way I described above.

Fimo and co are very susceptible to thinners, I always use a little bottle which I close everytime when working with it.

    thanks,

    Rene
