Sergeant, 72nd Highlanders, Afghanistan 1880.

    Made this fellow a few months ago now, but after the reception of my Culloden figure I thought people might like to see him.
    The 72nd Duke of Albany's ( as they were before amalgamation ) were in India for some time before the Second Afghan War, so were still wearing the old pouchbelt equipment , rather than the more modern Valise 1871 type.They were busy from 1879 until the end of the campaign with the Battle of Kandahar in September 1880 .
    This took some making : the tartan trousers had to be painted before tailoring, but once you get it all scaled and laid out, actually quite fun.

    They also had at some stage some locally made bullet loops attached across their chests .
    The exact form of these is debateable, but I've plumped for individual loops hanging off the shoulder belt :~

    One of the great joys of 1/6th figures is that you can change them...

    Everything on this figure scratchbuilt , apart from the body underneath.

    Besides these amazing figures at 1/6th sacle. Mr. Barton is also the best modeller/sculptor of 18mm figures....
