    Hi everyone,

After seeing Paul Abbot's, (Pauly Richard), beautifully done figure of this guy, i just had to have a go at this one for my first non-modern figure.

As i said, this is my first go at one of these guy's, so it is a whole new ball game for me, which can be totally screwed up at anytime.

Anyway, here's where i'm at so far.I've done what i think is the face completed, the pics aren't the greatest, i had a hard time photographing this fella but its the best i can do at the moment.

I have to do a couple of little touch-ups, but as the helmet is going to cover a lot of his face i think its just about there.

Looks like a good start to me Jeff. Keep us posted! As far as screwing up goes, I always like to say, it's not screwed up, it was simply a learning experience. It's just paint!

Its never wrong to paint a viking. ;)

Looks promising, I noticed how vicious he looks from that angle.

    Cheers

Thanks a lot for the comment,

*Roland, i have done the face in oils over a Tamiya Flesh acrylic basecoat.I will do the rest of the figure in oils and enamels.

    Thank you for your comments.

That face looks excellently painted. Nice one, Jeff.

It looks like you did the same as what I had to do, by cuttin' and grindin' away at the stub on top of his 'bonce'. It certainly makes the helmet fit more naturally. ;)

Thanks Paul.Your right about his bonce mate, i even ground some out of the inside of the helmet with a motor tool to try and get it to fit better.

    Thanks again,

Periklis, thanks a lot for your comment,

    Cheers,
    Jeff.

    Hi guys,

Progressing at a snails pace on this Viking figure. As happens to most of us, life gets in the way sometimes.

Anyway, i've finished the Helmet and have done the fur and head part of the wolf skin.I have only basecoated the tan part so far, ready for final coat plus shading and highlighting.
I still have to work out a better way of lighting for pics.

Thanks for looking and i welcome any opinions or critique.

    Hi all,

Work continues slowly on this figure. This is where i am up to at this point.

The Green is only the Base coat laid down in oil paint and needs to be shaded and highlighted yet, and thus is very glossy. There are a few parts that are glossy, that i will matt down at the end with some Flat clear varnish.

Thanks for looking fellas, and any comments, critique welcome.

Paul, sorry about the late reply.

My sample was pretty good mate, not much clean up needed.
    Thanks for the comment.

Its comin' along real fine, Jeff. Excellent.

I shudder when I see parts of a figure unassembled and the paintin' started. :D

    Thanks a lot Paul.

I shudder when I see parts of a figure unassembled and the paintin' started.... LOL!!!

I know what you mean mate.I've noticed that you have the figure nearly fully constructed before painting, i wasn't sure how i would get into the nooks and cranny's with this one if i built it first, so i thought i would work my way from the inside outwards, but i too like to have the model as complete as can be before painting....guess it goes back to our Armour model building eh!:D

    Thanks again Paul,
    Jeff.
