Gary, I got me a nice digital camera for my birthday, so I'll have to show you my ears when I finally get around to it!

Now that I have the head positioned where I want it to be, I remove it and take a small piece of copper wire and wrap it around the exposed portion of the neck. I then insert the head back on the figure after putting a drop of superglue in the hole. I'm not worried about a permanent bond as the surface of the rod and putty inner surface of the hole gives the glue very little to hold onto. Once the glue dries I will take a piece of Sculpey around it to form the foundation on which the 2nd and final layer of Sculpey will be placed.

First I score the underside of the head with an X-acto and then brush Sculpey diluent on the underside of the head and the rod that will support the neck. A piece of Sculpey is rolled out to where it's about a 1/4" high and pushed onto what will be the front of the neck. I use a flat spatula-like tool to slowly push it up against the rod, and a small rounded tool with a point to blend the Sculpey onto the underside of the head.

Here you can see how the material is wrapped around the head. I then score the material on the right side to where the remainder will cover up to the center of the back of the neck.

I then do the same with the left side.

Here is the completed first layer after clean up. It's a little shiny due to some of the diluent running out from under it.

I will give this 2-3 15 minute sessions in the oven at 250 degrees.
