I've started on my Nemrod Highlander. (Thank you thegoodsgt!) Right now, just his face, knees, and hands have been painted. I still need to paint his irises and some highlights here and there. At 70mm, this is the largest figure I've attempted to paint.

Any thoughts or suggestions during the duration of my painting him would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Wendy

    Hey Wendy,

This is a nice figure but I think that you need to cut the eyes down some, they look a little large.

Yep i agree with Joe. Also a small definition of the lower end line of theeye would be useful to enhance the eye volume.

also your skin tones might need some more variation to reddish tints to enhance the face sculpting and add contrast as at thispointthe face seems a bit overlighted. But might be the picture also.

    Wendy.

So far hi is looking good. But Joe mentioned it, you must line the eyes so they look not so big as they are now.
    For now, a great start.

    Hello Wendy!

I agree about what has being said about lining out the eyes.
Its a little bit hard to tell due to the size of the photo but his lips looks a litte bit blue-red, you might want to tone it down a bit.

    Keep us updated.

    Cheers

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll work on his eyes tonight. (I was thinking they were a bit large...)
As for the shading on his face, unfortunately it seems the full spectrum light I used washed a lot of the color from his face. There are red tones there, really! Next time I take a picture of him, I'll try to use sunlight.

And captenglish, I can always use references.

    Thanks again,
    Wendy

Hehe, I said I was a slow painter. Jason W. played around with the face a bit at a show in June. The major colors have been blocked in. I'm thinking of making the jacket gray instead of blue (or at least grayer). I've been intimidated by the tartan after my first try on it, so I started on a sock a bit.

    Any thoughts/critiques would be appreciated.

    Wendy
