    Ben, Huw,
Metals, bust primed gray. Kurass base coat gold enamel and silver/ Crome enamel for the trim. Once dry 1-2 day. I added very very thin Andrea printers inks chestnut over all the gold to tone it down. Very thin and a very dry brush. Build up the shadows brushing the chestnut into the darkest area. Next use the thin brown ink and work it into the shadow area. Then use the thin black ink and brush it into the darkest area. I used a thinned acrylic smoke on the last shadow step. I also used a thin red ink on the middle shadows very little but the red adds a nice look. For the highlight I used Vallejo gold so thin once blotted not much on the brush. Lightly brush the highlight areas enough times to bring it out. The gold blends nice and brings a shine to the areas. Takes a lot of time to do this but looks like metal when finished. Did the same steps on the helmet. Hope this helps. Mike

All that effort on the metalwork certainly paid off, very nice natural looking skintones too. I like this a lot, subject and painting.
