    Hi Martin,

    thanks for helping me out.
I started measuring contours instead of center, more obvious shown this way.

guess I will be cutting the pasta ( which also is no trouble with fimo..)

    thanks again,

    René

Happy to help Rene! From personal experience I can say these dimensions are easy to get off by just a little bit and then they are magnified once you add the hands. This is why I work in Super Sculpey. Like your Fimo I can cut and fix without worrying about time. I admire the guys who work in Magic Sculpt because i just can't work that quickly!

    Yes Martin,
I am also a bit stunned by what some people do with MS or putty.

would like to hear why they choose those media for sculpting and sometimes switch to the fimo for others.

for me, the classical fimo pink with a little black added.

    Markus,

    Danke danke!

German stuff is also known for it's solidness.

    I like that :)

I will give these pictures a close view when working on the rifle.

    hello rene
well its an certain german thing which wil no one surprise that there where alone 3 main scopemounting systems present.and then around 10 different ones which where often salvaged from private hunting guns.those mainly in the SS which had not its own Waffenamt and so at beginn of war had to do with booty weapons or older models while the wehrmacht did get the latest stuff.this changed later during war.
so far you can group them
TURMSCHWENKMONTAGE-the one pictured here and worn in the movie
KURZE SEITENMONTAGE-scopemounting was set on an short slide at gun
LANGE SEITENMONTAGE-scopemounting was set on an long slide at gun
HAKENMONTAGEN-hooked claws which where inserted in soldered mouns to the gun.those where mainly issued to SS nearly all are form private hunting guns.
and then as alwas lots of differnt sopes
    leupold-zeiss-dialythan hensolth-ect ect
Robert Shaw wrote an fine book about german sniper weapons.
interesting is that germany delivered during the cooperation with russia 1000 scopes to the russian army.so one can say that the first scopes the russians built where full copies of german ones.untill they developed their own much more efficient sytems much less complex and better suited the russian winter conditions.
    cheers

This is the document Markus refers to:

    http://www.archive.org/details/germansnipers

    it's really good!

when I was watching I had the idea of taking a segment ( few mm's) out of the arms, put the pieces of cuff back on the sleeve so the detail on the cuff stays intact.

Since I have a little dream about my own line of figures called:
'K98 : the widowmaker' ( knowing I desperately therefore need to sculpt my own K 98's...) and the fact I simply love painting on resin...

...I gave it already a little thought how Major König would end up in my silicon.

It's not so bad thinking about reproduction and what could go wrong with your figure.

    let's see...

don't be scared, I just cut the arms loose, simply because it's impossible to cast this torso with the arms attached.
This is ( for me at least as a homecaster...) mainly due to the fact the torso is accompanied with two arms that are lower.
When upside down, the arms are higher and it will be hard to fill the mall adequately with the resin ( fear some inclusion of air )

still attachable, what do I say,...great fitting! (y)

So,..may look again like a silly update ...for me it's not.

Learning how to make my own casts costed me a lot of rubber!

René arms look much better now with your corrections and i like the way you have broken the figure down for casting. Like you i have attempted some home casting and it does take practice but wasting Silicone rubber is expensive to replace. Hope your casting goes well for this figure.

Making Kar98 or any other weapon is not as hard as you expect, check out my tutorial i did some time back which will help you get an idea how to do it.

    ow my God, Steve!!

    this is GOOD.

I was planning to make a Webley revolver for some purpose, but this is truly good guidance.

I think I'll stick to the 200 mm figures.

what do you think of my idea to 'pull' specific parts out of your dremeltool?

    imagine....the best barrels ever....

    ...nice round cocking devices...

..perfect deep pulled lines for let's say,..a scope or so...

but keep safety in mind please.

..not to mention the very attractive PIAT-grenade..

..maybe I'll consider even to make a belt with bullets once this way but I also think things get quiet for a while around me...such work..pffff.

    but.

a little start on the Y-straps.

in the meantime I gave the Majors hands a frame.

I used copperwire, bends easily as I want a firm grip on the rifle.
Thinking in advance...the hands wil be integrated with the gun and all will be molded in one piece.
Deliberately, hands cause a lot of trouble when casting without any vacuum installation.

    doing my homework:

I like that idea of hands and rifle together, also how you make the hands, I save it for me lol, great job mate!
