Today I'm starting to paint our hero's "Furashka" (peaked cap)!

The first thing to do is the cap ribbon and the colored piping on the cap, which are often - and wrong! - a red is displayed.

A "real" red was reserved for commanders (Soviet name for generals and marshals)!

Here we have Marshal Semjon Konstantinowitsch Timoshenko and Army General Georgij Konstantinowitsch Shukov with such Furashkas in 1941 ...:

Of course, the landlord also wore such a Furashka ...

... and you can see it today in the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow!

To underline his special status, the landlord got also a white Furashka ...:

As the war progressed, the caps of the "father of the peoples" (and "friend of the children") became more and more gold-bristling ...

    ...but this is another story!

The infantry (called "riflemen" in the Red Army) wore a strange pale red as the "weapon color", which is often referred to as "raspberry red", which goes very well ...:

Our hero wears such a Furashka ...:

It's not that easy to mix the color together!

I mixed the basic color of "carmine red" and "skin color" - very little "titanium white" for lightening and then "sap green" for darkening ...:

And that's how it turned out - tomorrow I'll refine the transitions a little ...:

    So much for today!

That colour band and piping looks very close to the original reference

Interesting to see how it will look with the actual cap painted

    Following of course !

Raspberry red - I wonder who decided on the colours?

And further - the lower part of the Furashka top!

This Soviet field green-brown really has it all ...:

The upper cap - beautifully "crushed" painted.

The light follows the crooked way our hero put on his Furashka ...:

    I apologize for the photos!

With the light again pure luck ...

    Hey Martin,
Been following from afar...I like it but the only thing that bothers me is the lips. I just can't seem to explain it. Do like the paintwork....

    1. The seams on the furashka laid out with thinned dark brown paint - so it looks more three-dimensional.

    2. Lights on the cap flap a little more refined.

    3. Painted storm strap and buttons.

    4. Painted cockade.

    Hi Martín

Small but important areas to get right adding to the look

If possible maybe a little more highlight on the raspberry cap piping ?

    Good update as well

Painted visor - Furashka ready! I also put a soft light underthe visor ..:

Still missing the beard shadow that I made with this ...:

I have to work carefully between two extremes:

For one thing, people with very dark hair, like our friend, have a rather pronounced shade of beard.

On the other hand, political officers were the party's representatives in the fighting force and had to be role models - a sloppy, unshaven appearance was not tolerated!

In the end it turned out like this ...:

Well - the head wanders into the closet.

After Christmas, the corpus continues here ...!
