    Hey All
Finally got back to this one and finished it. This is my second sculpt from scratch, first using Magic Sculpt.
At the end of the day, I'm not terribly happy with it. Lots of mistakes, arms a touch long, hands too big, shoulders too wide, buggered up the strings on the guitar... there's more, but you can see them. The mistakes are identified and I'll know what to address when I take my next attempt sculpting. It's a learning process. The base isn't done... it'll be painted up as a stage with a wall of Marshall amp stacks behind him.

Anyway, the subject is Jeff Hanneman, guitarist and co-founder of my favourite band, Slayer. Jeff passed away this spring from liver failure, complications of a poisonous spider bite and a life of hard partying and hard living as a musician.

The white-blonde hair doesn't show well in the pics. For some of them, I put a red gel over my worklight to get that "in concert' feel... sorta:rolleyes: jeff-hanneman-2.jpg

I think my Lemmy sculpt turned out better, but it is what it is:meh:

Thanx for looking in... Be gentle:unsure:

For all the faults you found I think it 'feels' like muso in rocking out mode. I love his Johnny ramone stance. Rock on my friend and rip Jeff. SLAYER!!!

Heh Colin I think it looks pretty good. We are our own worst critics and as you say it's the best way to learn. I have a good friend in Mtl who also loves Slayer....sorry but I still think the best Slayer remains Buffy. Now there is a sculpting project!

Thanx for the support guys, I let this sit for a couple of months due to overwhelming frustration. Saw it on the shelf the other day and thought "screw it" just finish it! The only way to learn is to do.
As for Buffy, Colin, when that show came out, (what, 16-17 years ago?) I had a huge teen-like crush on Miss Gellar:love: ... sculpting her might just get a tad awkward:p

Thanx again all, if I'm not 100% pleased with the outcome, I took away a good number of lessons... which can't be all bad.

Not easy to sculpt this pose... but is not that bad, the painting looks nice.
Try it again... maybe you do it better next time...

Thanx Pedro, I kinda rushed the painting 'cause I wasn't loving the sculpt. I learned some stuff I can hopefully use on my next sculpt, probably something military next time.

Thanx Jerod... Obviously an Oldschool Slayer fan. That album is almost 30 years old now! Am I really that old?:nailbiting: Maybe KFK next... no hair to sculpt, but lots of tattoos to paint.

Bugger:mad: I saw them at the Concert Hall (the old Masonic Temple) when they toured for that album... Still have the t-shirt from the show, mind you I wouldn't try to put it on now for fear of it exploding as it stretches across my guts (that weren't there in '84:sorry:).
Doesn't matter when you found them as long as you get it... most don't
