    Hey Kenneth!

I know all about those 'spacing out - no quitting for nothing sesisons". He looks really cool with all that camo on him. Are they Palm leaves? Also, did you make the rifle sling? If so, what did you use? It looks excellent!

Yeh Ken, this is lookin good (y) great pose as has been commented, just one thing, I'd be inclined to tidy up the folds on the trousers, they look a bit soft and shallow, if you know what I mean.

Thanks, guys, for the encouraging replies;I really appreciate it  Anders, yes, those are indeed supposed to represent palm leaves/fronds and I made them out of semi-cured putty. As for the rifle sling,I used lead solder and flatten it out with a pair of flat-nosed pliers until I got the thickness that I wanted to represent the sling strap. A little judicious bending and I was done ! HTH.
Leigh, thanks for the heads-up on the trouser creases;I've already cleaned them up a bit and they look much better !
I hope to start on the groundwork either today or tomorrow and will post more photos then.Until then, cheers !

Great job Ken, and people say I work fast!! As they say "Inspiration is the narcotic of artist's". I really like the pose, subject and execution (no pun intended), of this one. A truly original subject, I can't wait to see him painted up on his described base.

    I love it.

What are the puttees made from?

Bill,Bob,Keith, thanks alot for all your compliments;I really appreciate it  Yes,Bob,that is a DML Japanese rifle, which I modified with a scope,as per the real thing.Keith, the puttees were made from Tamiya masking tape and coated with a thin layer of super glue to hold it in place. I hope to paint up the figure and probably start on the base this weekend. Will post more updates soon. Thanks and cheers !

I thought so. I think I have a couple of those. Wasn't sure if it was DML or an old Airfix. One thing I might do is on the rifle sling where it joins the rifle stock is to fashion a clip to which the sling is attached. This can be done with very thin brass wire and adds a nice touch of realism. Just a thought.

Hey,Dinesh, thanks for the compliments, man;really appreciate them  Showed the figure to Lester today and, guess what,he pointed out that the scope was a little too long to be accurate  ! Did a quick check on my references and corrected the problem. So,here now is a photo of the altered item and a primed shot of the figure.Tried out the new Tamiya acrylic primer and, boy, was it good ! My thanks to Jaume for first highlighting the primer to us.Comments,as always, are welcome and appreciated. Thanks and cheers !

Great work- very precise:) But why You are sculpting leafs with putty? easily - 'painless' method and material is lead tape.

Kamil,Joe,Bob,thank you very much for your positive comments;coming from accomplished sculptors like yourselves has really made my day
Kamil, the reason I made the leaves from putty was because, during my sculpting session,I had a bit of putty left-over when everything was done.Rather than waste it,I just pressed it into a thin sheet with my fingers and cut out the "leaves" with my modelling knife.Once the putty was semi-hard,it was just a simple matter to super glue the individual fronds to the camo-jacket of the sniper. It's therefore a question of "waste not, want not" in this case ! Hope that answers your question,Kamil.Cheers !

Roc,Kamil, thanks for the encouraging posts;I really appreciate them  ! Roc,I'm working on the base now.Hope to start painting the figure today too,so that I can post something tonight. Will keep you guys updated.Kamil, how I wish I had the stamina and inspiration to do what you do(sculpting 3-4 figures at a time);the very most I can do is a figure and maybe some personal equipment to go along with the figure each time. You're a real inspiration to me,Kamil,my friend (y) ! Cheers.
    Kenneth :)
