"I want to ride my bicycle!"

    Hello everybody,

this is my latest figure: another Belgian/Congolese soldier in East-Africa during WW1. He is a cyclist, but obviously not very happy with the east-african terrain, which was not always suitable for bike-traffic...

I used hornet hands (with most fingers resculpted) and head (heavily converted), and historex feet (underside detailed). The rest of the figure is sculpted with Magic Sculpt and Duro. The Belgian mauser is converted from a Tamiya German WW2 kar98K.

The bike is a Tamiya kit, detailed with Aber photo-etch, plastic sheet, copper and brass wire.

Any comments or criticisms are welcome!

    Best wishes,

    Marijn

Marijn...he looks superb...why is life like that..?..just when you think you have the most useful piece of kit....another obstacle raises it's head..
I can't wait to see the terrain he will be set into..I love it so far..!

Looking forward to some more pics of this pedestrian trooper..

    All the best....Roy.

    magnificent Marijn, as always.

only one comment. from the front on view of the soldier, his ankles look a little thick to me. But some people have thick ankles!

Super. Nice detailing on the bike. How difficult were the spokes?

    Interesting subject as allways Marijn!

I was wondering due to Rob´s comment about the ankle. This is supposed to be a soldier with african descent? Dont africans generally have sturdier ankles?

    Cheers

    Thanks guys!

Rob, probably you are right. It is only noticable in one specific angle, but I have the same feeling. I guess he has been marching very far! Or maybe Janne is right?

Hello Bob, I would say quite difficult but not extremely. With good planing, everything becomes managable. A Japanese modeller (unfortunately I forgot his name) showed the technique on Missing Links some time ago, which made things a lot easier.
I had plenty of vehicle-detailing practice in the past, so I actually find many aspects of sculpting far more challenging.

    Best wishes!

    Hi Marijn,

Apart for some folds (you which one I'm talking about) this is another perfect figure. I guess he's almost painted by now?

Doesn't Pinar want that big diamond award you can win at Antwerp? ;)

    Marijn,

Awesome, as usual! It is not just that you are an excellent modeler, which is beyond question, but that you are always right there with excellent ideas as well.

Excellent skills will make you an excellent modeler. Excellent ideas will make you an artist. You certainly are that!

Maybe someday I will be worthy.........

    Cheers!!
