As someone who takes photos I feel the same way. What amazes me is the if the show organizes took great photos and posted them no one who need to. I think the easiest thing to do would be to allow people to take cameras, tripods either before or after the show for an hour or so, it would make thinks so much easier on everyone. On the last day it would have to be before as at the end of the day it is a mad rush to get out. Most of the time there are still organises hanging around before and after.
Just my thoughts, or assign someone to takes photos and post them on the web later. I can't make it to the big shows as I can only afford 1/48 planes not the real ones

Have you maybe sent suggestions to the organisers? I know they're quite active on Facebook.

Speaking as someone who has been involved with a large show here in the States for the past 17 years, I can tell you that it is a very time consuming process for our staff to photograph the exhibits. In the past, it normally takes two people working almost the entire two days of the show to bring all 800 + / - figures to the photography booth, photograph them, and return them to the display. Then there is the additional time to upload them to our website. We have tried to several different techniques, to include photographing at night after the show closes, but the amount of time involved still remains the obstacle. It is a difficult proposition for a staff that has a limited amount of people to help during the show. As an example, our staff is all volunteer and is drawn from our local club which means that on any given year, we simply not have the people to run the show and take photographs.

I think photos and videos help promote the show and also inspire other modellers that can't make it. It's the reason why I want to get to one of the big shows ........ not because I saw a flyer on it.

I think it is worth remembering that virtually all shows are manned by volunteers. The last sponsored show in the UK was euro militaire. When the magazine walked away the show was taken over by modelling enthusiasts supported by club members and friends. It is also worth stating that even when it was a sponsored event the photography, marshalling, setting up tables etc was carried out by volunteers.

Shows work because groups of people come together to make them happen and give their time and energy often at there own expense and enjoyment of the show. If something is not quite working from your point of view why not add to the volunteer army and try to change things.

Remember when you pay your money, walk in the door and have a good day out, people have worked tirelessly behind the scenes for your enjoyment.

Yes the backpackers really do my head in. More so than the photographers.
