This is an old sculpt from 2008, I wanted to display it so it will appear in my VBench.

It was my second attempt at a 120mm figure and is Will Smith in his film `I Am Legend`
I did not capture Will as much as I would have liked and my painting did not bring him out well but overall I was happy with this piece, I learnt a lot from it regarding drapery.

You give him alot of artistic freedom.
Like what you have done into the sculpt, but i think the painting needs alot more contrast. (depending on what i see into these pictures)

Hi Steve, good to see you at Telford....the work on the drapery is just great so much detail to get the brush into-the base is simple but very effective to-are you going to do some more in this scale?
I feel the onset of old age....building up my supply of large scale figures(y)

    Hi Steve,

great sculpting, good pose, I think I remember this from the first time....

always good to revisit a kit and see if we can 'do better'

Afro-American skin tones are not commonly practiced, I think you're pretty close......

better then I would have done!

I think you have done a great job with the figure, but, maybe its me, but it seams like the head is alittle to big. I could just be me. Other than that, the figure looks great, nice work for your first 120mm

Thanks all for the comments on this old piece.

Trep.. I took the pictures from slightly above which has made the head appear bigger than it really is.

Keith.. 120mm is one of my favourite scales so definitely more in this scale for the future.

    All the best

Hi Steve, any chance of it not being 20th Century? I only paint prior to that although I'm getting a hankering for one or two WW1 figures,

    Take Care...Keith

I am open to any period/subject Keith, so long a sit appeals to me I will sculpt it :)
    Any suggestions :)

WW1 could be a possibility, have some ideas for that already floating around my head.

Steve great work on the drapery, very natural looking. I haven't seen the film but from the trailers didn't he always have a dog with him.? a possibility perhaps or is it finished.

Sorry Keith, but I have to comment....what planet do you live on?

Is that an 'in joke' that I don't get?

Should everything be based on what you would like to model?

I'm hoping that it is a joke you already share with Steve, and I before I make a prat of myself I will asume it is so.

    Cheers,
    Jon.

Steve, the figure looks great. The addition of The German Shepard would be cool. As for ideas for other figures, at the Planet Figure workshop last September, Gordy and I briefly talked about how neat it would be to have characters from any of the Charles Dickens novels to paint
