The scenery is finished and everything is ready to paint .
I will start in acrylics .
The rigging is made from electronic wire without the isolation.
The wooden parts are made from a mixture of duro and magic sculpt.

The ships deck is made from plastic card .

    Hi Marc,
you´ve done a wonderful job with the sculpting there, I can´t wait to see it painted, it will be surely a beauty. I have to make some comments on your rigging job you´ve done. I was hanging with scratchbuilding wooden ship modeling for some years and from my experience I can tell you that although your rigging looks good, it´s unfortunately all wrong. This kind of rigging was used to keep the mast stable and was one of the most important on a ship. There was a row of them, left and right of every mast, the first was placed vertically and paralell to the mast with all the rest following behind at an angle. From the angle of your rope I can say the Captain is standing at the right of his ship, just behind of one of his ships´ masts. But then the planking of the deck is wrong, this angle can be only seen on the front of the ship. Another mistake is the placing of the first (lower) block, is way too high, actually touching the rail. It should be touching the sheer rail, lower where the rope is coming out. The sheer rail also is way too thin. Last but also very important, the rigging between the two blocks is wrong too. As you rendered it there are 3 rings of rope holding the blocks together. Actually it was just one rope, starting from the hole up left (looking form outside) and then coming down and up till at the end was tighten up on the upper rope coming from the mast. I know all this can be really complicated, but rigging IS complicated, I needed months to understand how it works. If you have the intention to make the corrections I mention, I can send you fotos of how it should actually be shown, just let me know.

Again, a wonderful sculpting job and a wonderful theme too, I love sail ships!!!

    Anastasios.

P.S. I just noticed just another mistake. You rendered the rope coming from the mast with two thick wires, it should be at least 5 thinner ones making a thick rope.

I have indeed made some weird mistakes concerning the rigging .
I based the figure om a movie still . I think I forgot it was just cinema .( fake-fake-fake)
The rigging was very confusing in the different pictures and I also had doubts about the measurements of the ropes etc.
I found some pictures of modeling ships and had to do with it .
I'm afraid part of the secenery is glued together . I can still lower everything to the sheer rail .
The orientation of the ships deck can also be fixed.I can glue a new sheet above the existing one .

can you mail me some pictures how it's done properly ??
