Dave, Your bust looks great. I must admit at first I thought why is he taking the head off of such a great bust? Now I see. Hopefully the finished bust looks like what you imagined.~Gary

Excellent work Dave. I really like what you've done here. As you know, I have the same type subject going in 54mm. I've learned a bit about the period as I've worked through my own project. Your project has given enthusiasm to do another ECW in the future.

Dave, what a beauty! The details are fantastic, The blue sash is a perfect compliment to the ochre of the shirt. What can I say, REALLY fun piece!

Absolutely fantastic work Dave - well done !!!

Do you mind me asking.... what process and colors (brands) did you use to do the Armor - it's extremely realistic.

    Congrats and thanks,

    Adam.

    Thanks guys

I am more than pleased with this piece, its turned out way better than I expected, I put it down to my enthusiasm for it, it just kept getting bigger, again thanks for the compliments....

Adam, I dont know if the paints are available where you are, but the main base colour was done with an Alcad metallic colour, Steel. this has to be used through an airbrush, its mostly used by aircraft modellers....

I started off with a undercoat of black and white fading from black at the bottom to white at the top, again with an airbrush on all metal parts, then three light coats of the Alcad, as this keeps a slight visual aspect of the base coat, then when it was dry, I used and matt black enamel on totally knackered old no.2 brush and stippled from the bottom up, making sure not to go to heavy, that way it keeps a little of the steel shine coming through the paint. then a bit of dirtying up with black and dark leather acrylics and highlights with some printers ink silver.....

I have to say that I did try this method and many others on plasticard sheet before hand so I made sure it came out the way I wanted

    I hope this helps

Hi Rory, I used the head from the Pagan Art Miniatures Buccaneer bust, I have added the other threads with the SBS on them for you...

    Dave,

You've done a fantastic job on this one.
    Looks very life-like.

The metals have come out great, by the way.

Thanks for the tip Dave. I actually have nearly all the Alclad range from back in my Aircraft modelling days. I've thought about giving these a try, now I know that they work - and work quite well. I'll have to look into giving them a shot.

    Thanks,

    Adam.
