Well, here 'tis. My second ever Napoleonic. The uniform details are very tedious to get right. The green uniform went pretty quickly, but the rest has gone very slowly. Opinions of my interpretation of aurore are very welcome. The head is just stuck on loosely, so ignore its attitude.

    Great work John,

Yes, the Napoleontics is something real different from the WW II stuff.
More details on the dress etc.
But as i see it now, you have alot off fun with it.
    Keep posting this fellow.

Hey John, looking good, I'm working on one too and I know how time consuming they are.

    Keep up the good work.

    Cheers

John, I am certainly no expert on Nappys but your work so far looks spot-on. Keep it up! You too are a man of many tallents!

John, Hey, looks good to me. While i like you WW2 or earlier work it's nice to see someone go ouside of their usual interests. The results can sometimes be pleasantly surprising.~Gary

 Geeeeez that was quick! It looks really good John. My PERSONAL opinion is that Aurore should be more orangeish than closer to yellow. Maybe it's just the pics but it appears to be a bit on the yellow side. Again it's just my own interpetation. Aurore is nearly impossible to nail down so I guess in the end, we artists can only do our best. Your version of Aurore, regardless of what I and others may think, looks nice regardless. By the way, yes Nappie uniforms are easy enough to paint, it's just all that lace that takes so much time. Looking forward to seeing how you progress on this "rather late" figure. ;)

    Hey thanks gang.

Jim, It's a great figure and thanks again. I thought this would mostly be an exercise in green. That was the easy part. Thanks for the comments regarding the aurore. I think it is more yellow in the photo than in real life, but it wouldn't hurt go a bit more orange.

Some more of the braid is finished and I can move on to another color soon.

There is still more to paint. I'm not really pleased with the eyes and may try to enhance them a bit. The hair is a work in progress. I found the white leather belts most frustrating of all. I'm trying to stifle the urge to fiddle with the whites. I'll look at it in a few days and decide if it really needs fiddling. Jim Patrick was generous to give me this kit. I wanted to paint it as an exercise in painting green. The green was the easy part. I found I have spent more time on the cords and knots than any other thing. The waistcoat was the subject of constant tweaking. There is little left to do at this point. I have to paint the gloves and the carbine. The straps for the sword may prove difficult as well. Thanks for looking.

John, it does take a bit longer to paint figures with all that lace but when they're done........man do they look good. Your's is certianly no exception. It is looking really good John and I'm looking forward to seeing it in the flesh either in Chicago or Atlanta. What type of groundwork or backdrop are you planning? Will it be grass or some type of wall/fence section?

John, The figure looks good. The whites look okay to me. The best thing to do is not overwork the whites. It's not always easy to call a section done. At least you're going to take a few days and then come back to it. The worst thing to do is push a problem area to destruction.~Gary
