    Hey All

Just finished the sabretache not 10 minutes ago (minus the straps). Grand total painting time- 3 hourso_O Hopefully, by the time I get up for work my eyes will have uncrossed... this was a coat of arms painted on something smaller than my thumbnail. I am in awe at the fact someone sculpted this in the first place:notworthy:

Final assembly of the rider tomorrow then on to the horse

    Thanx for looking

Any ideas about what I can use for the straps that is stronger than lead foil. The sabretache and sabre need to be bouncing out away from the hip as the rider turns... I don't think the foil will be strong enough.

    Any help?

    You mean Lead foil??.
Other than that you can try magicsculpt , make the shape and then let it hardened.
I really like the work on the sabretache , i will probably suggest you use some Sephia ink to "accent" the metalic cloth pattern< don't know how to call it :(
The pics of the figure looks awesome Colin.

I see what you mean about the wash on the edging lace to bring out the detail.
Would the straps made of putty be brittle that thin? I've never tried that before... Worth a shot I guess

    Thanx Daniel

Looking fantastic! What are you using for metallics? Printers Ink?

Colin excellent painting. In regards to the straps, you could use copper sheet or as Daniel suggests magicsculpt but mix it with equal parts to Duro / greenstuff which makes it less brittle.

    Nice work on the sabretache.
I should stay with the leadfoil for the straps.
Another possibility is making them of electrical isolation tape. That is what Bill Horan does.

Thanks all for your kind words and advice

Ronnie, its Vallejo old gold over goldbrown shaded with burnt umber and highlighted with gold.

Ken, I don't know if I'm proficient enough with the putty but anything's worth a shot right'

Marc, funny you mention it... I'm about half way through Horan's "Masterclass" book. I saw the electrical tape being used (if that works for me, I have a neverending supply... being an electrician) my question is how to make it stand out from the rider and support the weight of the sabre and sabretache? He must coat it with something to stiffen the tape... I must check the book.

    Thanx again guys

I've had a lot of luck with using the tape they do pin striping on cars with for straps. Providing you want them to hang naturally if you want a swinging or bouncing on say a galloping figure they won't take any weight unless you use fuse wire or similar to reinforce them

Oh re brittle depends on the putty Milliput tends to be a bit brittle but I found the games work shop putty tends to be a bit more "rubbery"
