It's quite straight forward Pete. After priming i apply Dark Star's Baroque metallic acrylic paint,2 or 3 thin coats. on the armour and then mix Lamp Black and Burnt Umber oils together. The ratio of the mix is entirely up to what kind of finish you want on the armour.Worth experimenting.
I apply the oil mix over the entire armour, and then with a Kitchen paper towel i start taking it of in a downward motion, which will leave the oils in the deep crevices in the armour so you don't really need to shade the armour, although you can enhance it more once it's all dry if you want. The highlights are done by using a damp brush with thinners and start taking off the oils where the natural highlights would be,or you can use the Dark Star Baroque acrylic to highlight the armour.Printers ink is another way you could highlight the armour.
To summarise,it's up to you how much oil you take off for the finish you want on the armour. As it takes about 3 days to dry, you can muck about with it to add or subtract the oils for as long as you want.
