Here is another one off figures that I've done since Atlanta. This time it is a 54mm figure of a Sepoy (pvt) of the Bombay Native Infantry 1868. Sculpted with Magic Sculpt and a Hornet head.

Though the sculpt is pretty plain, the uniform actually have quite a bit of flare with all of its red lacing etc. Should be a very colorful figure. The coolest thing about this figure is that it is going to be painted by David Hood, something which I am excited about and can't wait to see the painted version!

If i may: i find his right leg out of balance. It seem that he has some O shaped leg and is leaning at the back of his right feet.
If i'm wrong correct me please.

Not sure what you mean by 'O' shaped leg! As for his stance, he is just placed on the groundwork (as you can see his left foot) and he is not permanently attached, David will do this when he does the final ground work. I do belive the leg is balanced though, if you look, the leg is pretty much under the figures point of gravity, which is where it needs to be.

Thanks for the comments Marc, it always makes me recheck the figure and learn from any mistakes made that I have missed. It's learning from these mistakes that makes us better artists!

Really like the pose and subject of this figure, looking forward to seeing it painted.

The first shot, he looks like he's resting his chin on the rifle. Glad to see the other sides.

Marcs observation may be what I think I'm seeing too. The way the knee and leg stance on the right side is, looks like it does have a curve or slightly bow legged stance.

It may also be the result of the figure only sitting on the groundwork. Once that left foot goes down fully, the weight of the figure will 'shift' towards more balanced. I'm erring on the side photo being out

The right leg is carrying the weight, and is under the center of gravity (The later pointed out earlier in the thread). Thus, there should be a bit of a bow in the Fibula-Tibia/Shin bone the way the human leg is constructed and functions.

It looks as it should.

What i mean that they are looking like he has ride a horse for 24 hours non-stop. Now i think you know what i mean.
But it is possible that the camera is cheating me.

I believe that the leaning backward on his feet is correct by the defintely fit on the base.

Marc, aah you mean 'bow legged'! The right leg is indead a little curved, if you look at the human leg, it is not straight, besides, a bit of curve action adds more interest to a figure.

I too am looking forward to see David paint this one! I think it's in very competent hands and hopefully it shall be done for the Chicago show next year.

Once the figure is primed I will post a few more shots, usually its hard to take good pictures of raw magic sculpt, and sometimes some details are hard to see. I always find flaws after I prime the figures too! Which is useful in the final clean up!
