    Howdy-

Some in process shots of my current fig. VL 120 mm Black Prince (no.. not Edward...) Lots of fun but lousy fit on hands to arms and torso. lot of work needed

Metals done in GS Mr Metals. Mail has only metals base layer and great helm and plate has had some shading and highlights that do not seem to come out in the pics.

Comments, criticism and suggestions welcome, pls.

How did you do the helmet? That looks pretty neat.

I pretty much followed Augie's article on painting plate with Mr Metal.

    Undercoat with AC Flt Black.

1 pt Dark Iron + 1 pt Stainless steel. Wait 2 hrs and buff.
Wait 3 days to harden up.

Broad outliine with dark iron wait a couple hrs and buff.
Paint 2 pts stainless + 1 pt dark iron to light bars on plate. wait and buff again.

Although its not in the pics, I just drybrushed the high highlights with chrome silver and stainless steel. Looks quite good :)

And, yes, I will add a couple of washes to the mail in a couple days. Then buff the mail.

Lots of good Mr metal info courtesy of Augie R over at MedRom/TNT.

    Thanks for the comments, guys.

This looks great Keith. As I was reading the thread, I said to myself I have to ask you how you used the GS as I just bought some in Tulsa. I see Pete has already asked and you have answered. Many thanks.

    Guy-

I am not on my "regular" PC so I'll send you the link to Augie's article on White Armor on Monday. Or, I think you can get to it thru the MedRom/TNT "Metals" folder.

    Hi Keith,

    Looking great mate!

You have worked wonders with the Mr Metals - great tone. The photographs look great too. Must be that Nikon ;)

    Cheers

    Hey Keith,

I really like what you have done with the armor. Something you may or may not want to try is to put a thin wash of Humbrol Gloss black on the chain mail. It will flow into the nooks and give it a little more depth. This is what I did on the chain mail on my knight.

    Keith,
Excellent work...I too am intriqued by the way you are working the metal...amazing. ;) Have you decided on how you are going to approach the tunic? Can't wait to see you bring this all together...well done!

    All the best

Brenton-Thanks for checking in! :) Picked up those MIG pigments and going to give them a try on this fellow. Hope they look half as good as your Roman.

Joe - I put a couple of thin coats of AC Flat black on. Waited a few days and buffed out the broad areas of the chest and arms. I plan to add some raw umber and buff again this week end. You are right. That wash really helps tone down the mail!

Patrick - Gonna take another shot of the tunic/surcoat in acrylics. I am a sucker for punishment.

Really nice work so far - keep us posted on the progress - would love to see some new pics!
I have done this figure myself and it is one of my favourites.
What have you got planned as far as heraldry goes?

    Paul-

Still working my way thru the metals on the helm and knee... New pics in a week or so.

For the Heraldry, I plan on just reproducing what is on the box art and molded in to the shield. It's that funnel-thingee. What the heck is that, btw  !
