Here's my latest sculpt for Minuteman models . It's a bust of Audie Leon Murphy, to give him his full title, a famous Hollywood movie star who was also the most decorated American combat soldier of WW2.
He received every decoration for valor that the U.S had to offer plus five decorations presented to him by France and Belgium.
I hope I've managed to capture his likeness, the first pic was one I posted to fellow friends and sculptors on the Planet and the second pic is the result of the changes following their suggestions .
All comments, suggestions and critique most welcome.
    Cheers Ken

I thought that it was a good likeness before Ken, but the subtle changes have helped immensely.

Agreed. A couple of minor changes have really captured the essence of his facial character. What a great subject too. Nothing like a real life war hero and movie star in one neat package. Excellent start Ken, I'll be following your progress with great interest.

You are definetely on the right track Ken and the work on the face is very nice, when viewing the first image i didnt have the one shown to compare and i can see that it can depend on which image you use as to what likeness you get, he definetely looks like like portrait shown in the post.

look forward to more and good luck with those medals mate :D

    All the best,

Really nice contrast, the medals to his young face.

Great choice of subject. His family run a society through a website (http://www.audiemurphy.com/) but for a great read on the man look for a copy of the book " No Name on the Bullet" by Don Graham. It gives a great account of Audie's wartime story and the demons that drove him to Hollywood (which he hated with a passion).

    Ken,
He,s looking good.To me he could be a fraction longer in the nose and possible longer in the face or narrower in the cheek or maybe less cheek from me.
