Martin - Thanks for the reference material. I've adjusted the colours on the completed photos to reflect the true finish, which is more muted. - I'd overdone the warm tones when editing.

Steve - Yes, all of the plates are either colourized , illustrations or re-enactors, so who knows? Either way, I'm going to use Vallejo Field Grey with my next German and see how I get on. The next one will be a Dragon figure, to be started in the new kitchen, where I've yet to det the light right. Don't do too much gardening this weekend.

Chris - Thanks also. The face has actually bleached out a lot in the photos - there is more colour and shading there in reality.
